During the 80s in the UK (before my time), I would have to say all of the old music shows like Top of the Pops, but moreso The Tube and The Old Grey Whistle Test. They were always briliant, as was most of the music in the 80s.
None of them exist now of course and there are few other programs like it. I suspect if they did bring them back however, the music would be abysmal in accordance with the majority of modern music.

There's an exception to the rule - Jools Holland's programmes. Always interesting and eclectic. I suppose it's like an updated OGWT in some ways.

Yeah, Ugly Betty went before it had time to tie up all its storylines.

And, I think Dollhouse was another show that got robbed. The finale was clearly rushed and wasn't satisfying.

And, in the context of a good show on tv, The Golden Girls truly had wonderful writing and brilliant acting. But, you know, if that idea had come across now-- it wouldn't have been green-lit.
