Lasagna is not really my thing, so I can't give any specific tips. What I will say is that when it comes to mediteranean food, one of the heavenly combinations at the heart of so many dishes is Tomatoes with Basil, and if your recipe calls for those two together, it really pays dividends to use fresh Basil if you can. If nothing else, it will make your kitchen smell fanastic, and get everyone's apetite stimulated!

As for wine with a heavy dish like Lasagne, I'd go for a deep red, a nice Chainti from Italy, or a Rijoca from Spain. Another option would be a Tempranilo, they go so well with beef dishes.

sounds great, I think making your beloved a fabulous meal they love is truly one of the greatest joys we have. I have been making lots of Italian dishes lately as the black Russian tomatoes in our garden are producing like crazy. gb2000ie or anyone else do you have any tips for making homemade Lasagna better and what European wine would be best.

Don't overlook American wines. Our Chardonnays have been bashed in recent years, but that just helps the price point. If you want a full flavored white, a California Chardonnay holds up with a flavorful dish.
An Oregon Pinot is a wonderful light bodied red. From everyday to $$$.

Tried A To Z Wineworks Pinot Noir Willamette Valley and it was really good and was under 20 bucks. Thanks for the heads up!

I'm also very fond of Californian Zinfandels - I have no idea why these lovely wines are so little-known.

There's even one with a fun, stupid name. Seven Deadly Zins. Good choice for a naughty evening!
And, yes, it's a well priced fun wine.

with any fish, go easy on the heat and simply wait for the white protein to present itself between the cracks. then it's ready. (i know...sounds...yummy in several ways) but is true.
