It is surprising that Mr Mario Monti is greatly shaken by this unexpected news.

There has not been greatly shaken when it has impoverished an entire nation in favor of the banks.

It's just a rich hypocrite lend to politics.

Hopefully also he will withdraw for the good of my country.

He is a candidate (the first was a technical government, now he wants to be democratically elected). On 25 and 26 February in Italy will vote for the presidency of the council.
And returned the mummy: Silvio Berlusconi

The problem of my nation is not Berlusconi, but who votes him.

Today He said dirty things (laughing) to this journalist (sexual innuendo)

The Italian "DESTRA" ( the Fascists ) ride (ignorant), Italy starving.

I note the "good faith" of Ratzinger during his adolescence, influenced by the Nazi dictatorship.

But if you have the time and inclination, I would like to report to you this document carefully, which is documented as the Vatican and Nazism have always been strong allies.

A strong document that will let you know things ignored, provided you are not disgusted before the end of the article.

http://refhide.com/?http://www.cristianesimo.it/nazismo.htm

The document is in Italian, but as a web page, it can be easily translated to your language by a translation program.

All right. If you have a strong stomach, good reading.

Yes, I know that. There are a lot things in the modern and older church that are rather ugly but what does this have to do with the Person of Josef Ratzinger? How was he personally involved in that?

Oh and yes, many states have things in their past that they don't like or should not like. Not just the Vatican. May everybody ask, how well their homeland has dealt with that. Maybe if Italy had made a good example of a process of coming to terms with one's past, the Vatican would have followed. :p

But there is enough to talk about today's Ratzinger.

@wild.wagner: OMG, can't believe that. That will be fun. Some day he will die of old age, don't worry. :D

I'm not religious, but the church, and the pope, do matter.

Not all popes have been like the last several. John the twenty third was a great man.
Maybe something good will happen.

There's a Canadian being floated as one of the top contenders. Know anything about him, Jake?

Yes it's Bishop Marc Ouelllet he's actually a former professional hockey player who got hit too much by the puck and god spoke to him and he joined the international little boy's rapist association. You see how much I care :))

I'm aware of the church's disgraceful conduct during WWII, but, at that time Ratzinger was a teenager. I don't see how the church doing bad things before he had any power within it has anything to do with him. I don't see how the church's past makes it OK to wrongly call Ratzinger a Nazi. That is a big word to throw around.

Catholicism is likely the largest swindle to ever encompass the earth and it continues (spoken from a fully reformed Catholic). This topic is not even worthy for much thinking and then it spins deeper into politics that will also never change. Pish Posh!

In other news,

Along with Damien Crosse turning 31 today the very sexy, gorgeous Austin Wilde turns 30. Austin, I want to BLOW out your birthday candle:pP Then pummel hump your fine behind. Happy Birthday Austin

An interesting thing about this pope was the public speculation that he is gay. And that his handsome, long time assistant was more than that.

Well I think Austin has definitely the fitting facial expression to the Catholicism topic in this thread :D

I couldn't agree more!!

And as for Austin's special day. Happy Birthday indeed

Well I think this would be candle blowing that nobody forgets, neither him, nor me :pP

These "structures" have all turned to greed and not about beliefs or constitutions, nothing. Everything stays the same without revolution. When American't finally decides to drill for oil in Alaska people think the price will drop. Hahaha, it will skyrocket because of regulations and added taxes. Until a revolt all will stay the same and likely even after. HELLOOOOOO!?, If you are on GH you have no influence thus, enjoy what you do have GH!

Religion is regarded true by the common ordinary people, false by persons wise, useful by rulers.

Silvio Berlusconi 'to run for Italy PM again'

The problem of my nation is not Berlusconi, but who votes him.

I totally agree with you. :p

Silvio Berlusconi’s popularity is rising after the latest TV shows. I could hardly believe it when I heard the news yesterday  I think the Italian electoral campaign is a déja vu.

The RCC is an institution, and like all big institutions, it now mainly exists to further its own existence.

As an ex-catholic myself I agree that it's all a pile of dangerous power politics in pretty frocks, but, it affects all of us, whether we like it or not. The pope has real power and influence, so whether we like it or not, he is important, and so is who replaces him.

I want to make a provocative proposal.

A proposal absolutely impossible, but suggestive for the dreams of that part of Italians who are fed up of having the Vatican at home.

As is the case for the Olympics and the World Cup, in turn, every 4 years, a different nation or state contains all the ecclesiastical hierarchy.
Of Course will cover also the expenses, which until now have only been charged to "subjects" Italians. :dreaming:

No thanks - you can keep the mess Mussolini made :)

Given how rich the church is, I'm shocked it is costing Italian tax payers money :(
