Rapidgator virus warning lock screen problem

A lot of video clips on GH are downloadable only on Rapidgator. Lately, most of the time I go to Rapidgator, and click the slow, or fast download option, the screen redirects to a warning screen, stating that my computer is infected with a virus and that I need to call the phone number below to remove it. This is clearly a scam by computer hackers to gain information and access to your computer. My problem, is that you can not close this window, and go back to the rapidgator download screen, by any means that I have found, short of completely closing down the internet completely. Causing me to loose anything I was working on at the time. Does anyone have a solution for dealing with this problem?~X(

Something like Click to Flash, uBlock, or NoScript should be able to help you here.

The issue is malicious advertising, AKA malvertising.

It happened to me in Internet Explorer. But, not in Firefox.

However, apparently not waiting for the counter to zero-out in Firefox without interruption produces a message like: "you didn't wait" and it won't let you download. Apparently, at least for me it's some kind of Rapidgator issue.

For the scam originally mentioned by thechief, what works for me, using Windows on a PC, is to open the Task Manager and close the browser. When I re-open, I don`t get it to restore the previous session, though, as that will cause the same problem to recur. I just browse my way back to where I left off and try again. It`s a pain in the butt, however it does clear the scam screen. Best of luck! :)

jdownloader worked for me, the connection drops but jdownloader automatically picks it back up.

THE FIX
I've had that problem with my Mac, when using Safari, and lately, other browsers, as well, but it wasn't using Rapidgator. For me, it was clicking on other things, such as a composite picture, or somethings like that. What I do is force close the window by using command+option+escape, but the when I reopen it, it comes back. HOWEVER, after talking to Apple tech, they told me to hold down fn+command while opening it (I believe it's command, but it could be option button) and I haven't had any problem with reopening the browser. So, try opening your browser that way. Of course, I don't know if it will work with a PC, but it's worth a try.

I have found with the newer versions of Firefox if you right click the system tray button for that page (I dont use tabs) it allows you to close that window.

If you keep clicking the "Leave Page" button when you try to close the page it just goes in a loop! ANNOYING!

I use Google Chrome and I haven't gotten this pop-up with RG, but I have with other sites several times. It is infuriating! Have to exit everything to get rid of it.

Yep, I find too this very frustrating with ALL OF THE SITES with downloading, rather than just RG in particular.
I have the confidence though that both Avast & Malwarebytes are protecting me from such system annoyances & re-starts, etc.
.... Tis times of the future, where they all wanna "make money, or something".......
