i got an email about a 47 ford truck that ford company bought for 800 thousand dollers...it was only one of a very few.. 35 i think...but as im reading through this..i see its been restored...but with modifications...so my question is this? doesnt restoration mean its brought back to its original point?

It depends on what you want to do with it. Imagine I would buy a Vincent Black Shadow motorcycle and I wanted to restore it. I would like to ride it, enjoy the bike. But in that case I would fit a modern shock absorber in the cantilever system, use modern brake material and fit Dunlop TT100 tyres. You can't see the difference, but it is a lot safer to ride with it.
But when someone just want to place it in a museum, than it is logical that he tries to do all things original.

It was a Hoax. After the story was published on several websites, one of the authors was presented with enough evidence to make him dig a little deeper. Among his discoveries was the fact that the McCullough supercharger was discontinued in 1940, 7 years before the truck was made, so it couldn't have been a factory installed option. He also contacted the Ford museum, who had never heard of this truck...
