May 1957 : first official visit of Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth II in France. She received the new Dauphine with special wheels from the president of Renault Pierre Dreyfus after visiting the Flins factories. Unfortunately some hours later the royal Citroen limousine refused to start. Queen Elisabeth II and the president Rene Coty must discreetly exchange it for another car. :blushing:

Most of the time the marquis liked to test himself his invention and his cute driver was a simple passenger. He created with his mechanical Marcel Bouton one of the first big car company De Dion Bouton and he let his name to a rear suspension system. He created also ACF, the french automobile club.

Locomotive Act : In England, at the beginning of automobile age, cars were allowed to circulate only if it were preceded by a man with cap and red flag !
Happily this law was quickly abolished and a long time later to commemorate this event the rally London-Brighton dedicated to pre-1904 vehicles was created.

Georges Héreil and Gabriel Voisin were a kind of bridge between cars and planes. Gabriel Voisin, the aviation pioneer, was cars constructor in thirties. Georges Héreil, the "father" of the Caravelle and ex-Sud-Aviation president, became the president of Simca.
Both were friends in private life and, in 1967 when first Simca 1100 and coach 1200S were ready, Georges Héreil made drive cars to Gabriel Voisin for he tested it. At this time "the Master" is 87 ! Comments of the grandfather after testing :
Simca 1100 : "if I had to make a car again, I would build a thing like this". It was an huge compliment for those who knew the guy !
The coach 1200S : " it's good too, but just for fun"

Was / is this your gymnasium, where you went to school?

Yes. In 2013, the school celebrated its 150th anniversary.

The beginnings of higher education in Maribor date back to the 19th century, when in 1859 bishop Anton Martin Slomšek moved the seat of the Lavantine diocese from St. Andraž in Lavantal (Austrian Carinthia) to Maribor and soon afterwards established a Slovenian seminary.

In 1863 the two-year teacher-training school was established, and in 1888 it became a four-year school.
