Berliet trucks from the movie "100000 Dollars au soleil" (Henri Verneuil - 1964)

The GBC 8 M Gazelle (1958) of Lino Ventura is planted into the sand.

The truck restored today.

Competition Lino Ventura VS Jean-Paul Belmondo at the wheel of a brand new TLM 10 M2 (1961). The load of this truck will remain mysterious during all the movie.

Bernard trucks (1924 - 1967)

Edouard Bernard created his company in 1924 with the manufacturing of hydraulics tippings for trucks. Quickly he added some own vans at the catalog.

Head office and manufacturing at Arcueil, southern suburban of Paris.

Showroom and offices

Mechanical workshop

For assembling motors and frames, another manufacture is builded at Bagneux near Arcueil

The third building, also at Arcueil, is a repairing workshop.

Bernard special feature starting 1935 : the rear axle pass through the frame by a large opening. It allow to lower a lot the gravity center of the vehicle.

However, Bernard continue to make some traditional frames during a short time.

The end of Bernard trucks

6 R 200.26 6x2

19 DA 150 with forward cab

Endurance demonstration for the new Alsthom Dieselair V 8 air cooled engine 200 HP derived from one locomotive motor.

T 200 35 D (notice the turbine of the air-cooling)

Sad Paris motorshow 1957 : the company has deposited its balance sheet.

Paris motorshow 1960 : Bernard exhibits the prototype of a management bus for the television. This amazing creation is drawed by Philippe Charbonneaux and bodyworked by Pourtout. It is named "television cab".

26 DA 8 P 180 (only one unit)

TDA 180 35

In 1963 the American constructor Mack bought Bernard and assembled its motors on the trucks that became some Mack-Bernard. On the tractor TDA 211 35 above, the "television cab" is left for a more classic cab (1966). The manufacture of the Mack-Bernard is stopped in 1967, the same year for the Panhard cars. These constructors were too small to survive.
