Tech problems with streaming videos from Xv1deos

It seems there are problems with videos streaming from Xv1deos - they just don't show up, they appear totally blank.

Is this a general problem here on the forum, or is it just me having problems?

I visited the Xv1ideos site a few hours ago and it seemed OK.

Everything is blank for me too. Pics load but no videos. Happened just the other day.

I'm beginning to feel left out when I can still see videos - both on the latest version of Firefox and the Chrome clone which serves as my default browser.

For those members using Chrome (or a clone thereof) I'd suggest right-clicking anywhere on the Xvideos window, and choosing the Inspect option.
This will open a panel on the right-hand side of the window, where the Console tab should be selected

The filter icon on the next 'row' should then be clicked (or toggled, as necessary) to display the 'All Errors Warnings Info Logs Debug' options, from which the 'Errors' option should be chosen.

Even where a page appears to load normally some errors are not unusual - there are 4 errors in the example above (the indicator is to the right of the same line as the 'Console' tab), so I would be interested to see what errors 'white-box' users are seeing (other than 'Refused to load the font').

Thanks a lot for this very competent post, but I'm afraid there might be some misunderstanding: What you show is obviously from XV1deos own site & I haven't had any problems with watching and downloading vids from XV1deos.

The problem I wanted to talk about only concerns streamed XV1deos on the GH forums. (And as far as I know it doesn't concern vids streamed from other sites, such as YouTube, Vimeo etc)

Aaaah, ok that is for the forum IT to fix - the problem with relying on external websites for content is that they may change their design which causes legacy code to break (unless you have registered to use an API they provide for their service)

The legacy code used by GH worked on only the numeric ID of the video being required

whereas xvideos now also requires the textual description (delimited with underscores instead of spaces), i.e.

https://www.xvideos.com/video32505753/[B]mormon_bishop_fingers_bum[/B]

Actually, when you view the video on xvideos, the embed link there is also in need of attention, i.e. the embed link for the video above is given as

https://www.xvideos.com/embedframe/32050573

which yields a 'This video has been deleted' message

so forum IT can't really do much until xvideos themselves get their house in order

Given that the embed link currently provided by the xvideos site isn't currently valid, I can only suggest using the full xvideos URL for the video (i.e. no GH streaming for the moment)

Since I'm not one of the tech savvy guys on this forum but Asymptotic obviously is, my best idea is to ask Asymptotic if he could PM his analysis of the problem to some of the admins (lets say zortek and/or unpredicktable) who in their turn can contact the tech guys of the owners of this forum - our staff are all volunteers, working for free, but the Admins knows the right way to contact the owners.

i think the difference is that it looks like your on the website itself (i.e xvideo). I can load videos on their website fine, but anything that's embedded in the forum pages doesn't load and I get the white box, however since you're curious.

Thanks - after my misunderstanding was clarified, I saw that the underlying issue is with the xvideos site - the embed links they provide are no longer valid
