Eugene LEE (1939)
US Set Designer

If you have seen the permanant train station set for Saturday Night Live then you have seen the work of Eugene Lee. Lee was with the late night comedy show from its debut in 1975 up to the present. He won his first Tony Award for the environmental staging of Candide in 1974 where the main character's adventure took place all around the audience. He also won Tonys for Sweeney Todd (where he put an actual 19th century factory on stage), and Wicked, with a giant Time Dragon looming over the audience. He was also the co-founder of Trinity Rep in Providence, one of America’s leading regional theaters.

Raquel WELCH (1940)
US Actor

Welch rose to fame in the 1960s in movies like Fantastic Voyage and One Million Years BC and in the transsexual title role of Myra Breckenridge. She changed the image of the sex symbol from the damsel in distress to a powerful woman who could take care of herself. She also refused to appear nude in a movie or magazine. She continued to be popular in the 1970s, and later moved to Broadway replacing Lauren Bacall in Woman of the Year and Julie Andrews in Victor / Victoria.
