Maggie SMITH (1934)
UK Actor

She had an immense career starting in the 1950s and winning multiple Tony Awards, Oscars, and BAFTAs. But maybe the most surprising part was the end where she became beloved around the world for playing Professor McGonagall in the Harry Potter film series (2001–2011), and Violet Crawley in Downton Abbey (2010–2015). Her Oscars were for The Prime of Miss Jean Brody (1969) and Neil Simon's California Suite (1978). Other popular films were Gosford Park (2001), Sister Act (1992), and A Room With a View (1985).

Gavin CREEL (1976)
US Stage Actor

Gavin was a beloved Broadway musical actor who began his career opposite Sutton Foster in the original cast of Thoroughly Modern Millie. He opened The Book of Mormon in London, and received an Oliver Award. He starred in the revivals of She Loves Me, Into the Woods, Hair, and Hello, Dolly! With Bette Midler.

He was also a tireless advocate of marriage equality, gay representation in media, and the charity Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Gavin was just diagnosed with cancer in July, and passed today.

Here is Gavin singing a cover of “Something Wonderful’, originally from the musical The King and I. He was invited to do this by the Rodger’s & Hammerstein organization for a series of pop (and often queer) versions of classic Broadway songs.

Teri GARR (1944)
US Actor

Garr specialized in playing quirky, "normal" women involved with crazy men. In 1977 she was John Denver's wife as he encountered God (George Burns) in Oh, God!, and Richard Dreyfess's wife trying to cope with his UFO obsession in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. She seemed to be everywhere from the mid-1970s through the 1980s in Young Frankenstein (1974), The Black Stallion (1979), Tootsie (1982), and Mr. Mom (1983).
