The White House press briefing took an otherworldly turn on Monday.
Press secretary Josh Earnest sidestepped when American Urban Radio Network's White House correspondent April Ryan asked him if there is life beyond Earth.
"There are some questions that even the White House press secretary doesn’t have answers to,” Earnest responded.
Ryan was on a mission to get a straight answer. She jumped on Earnest when the spokesman took a sip out of his signature Kansas City Royals mug while she asked the question.
“Look at you. You’re drinking, you’re trying to think,” Ryan told Earnest.
“He’s sending a signal,” another reporter joked.
The media’s interest in extraterrestrials has piqued since Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton said she would release government files on the issue if she is elected.
Earnest was asked Monday, for the second time in less than a week, whether Obama would beat Clinton to the punch.
But he again made it clear that enthusiasts of unidentified flying objects will have to hold out hope for Clinton, saying the president won’t release such information.
