Video played with bad quality

I have this problem.. Ive install a new Windows 7 for my cousin's brand new desktop. it has 2 GB ram and Intel Dual Core Processor.. The problem is whenever i played video files (wmv,avi,mkv) on the desktop, i got a very bad quality kinda small boxes quality with stuttering video.. But when i played the same video on my laptop, the video is smoothly HD.. can someone help me with this.. is it a codec problem? ive already install codecs plugins.. is it driver problem? screen resolution problem? the desktop is brand new..

If you want to check the codec, try a small, free program called GSpot. It will tell you what codec is required for the video and whether it is installed. It will also tell you if the file length is correct and a load of other useful info.

What is the screen resolution of your laptop compared to the desktop? Chances are very good that the video on the new desktop is being scaled (stretched) to fit the screen, so every pixel in the video ends up as a 2x2 or maybe 3x3/4x4 block on the screen.

The blocking is more noticeable when this happens than on a lower-resolution screen where no scaling occurs.

From your screen capture, I'd guess this is what's happening. You can compare the screen resolution set under display properties->settings vs the video size that "file properties" reports in the media player.

i think ive already fix it.. its the intel driver problem.. i re-install everything and it works
