Wagner - Tannhäuser-Ouverture Herbert von Karajan

Guys, this is just powerful, energetic and glowing music and Karajan is presenting this with every single conducting action.

Probably the Berlin Philharmonic - the orchestra in this video - were at their best level of music making and it is a huge gift to have these videos that show what an amazing relationship they had with Karajan.

Hey, we are speaking about nearly 35 years where they worked together!

Enjoy:)

Mambo from Leonard Bernstein's "Symphonic Dances" (West Side Story) - one of the encores performed by the Simon Bolivar Orchestra at the 2007 BBC Proms in London.

What an outstanding performance ! Full of joy, power and musical excellence !

More about this worldwide unique and stunning music-program which involves around 400.000 kids from Venezuela -called "El Sistema" founded in 1975:

@JamesK

"Mambo" is just awesome and I think it is the absolutely favourite encore of the Simon Bolivar Orchestra:D

And what they do in Venezuela with "El Sistema" is just brilliant.
Maestro José Antonio Abreu established a marvellous way of musical education and it is now in the hands of the younger generation to bring this to all over the world.

I appreciate that so very much and the movie "El Sistema" shows so wonderful how they work :thumbs up:

Thanks for sharing

This is the fourth song I've heard from this album, and I like it far more than the other three. Also, at the risk of offending fans of Rihanna, it's by far the best thing I have heard Rihanna do!

I see a song by A-ha. Not to worry, it's a much better song than the Muse one in my opinion. :)

By the way, does anyone know where that video was shot? It's just that they are Norwegian, and that place looks a lot like my memories of the Oslo Town Hall, which I visited in 2009.

P.S. I like your avatar, Alex. The jeans look nice and tight.

Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 2 Adagio

Rachmaninov's 2nd piano concerto is probably on of his most well known pieces and it has this wonderful slow movement that I want to share here.

One more time Karajan shows his qualities as the "Sound-Magician":D and makes the orchestral part just shining - and Alexis Weissenberg plays so lyrical and with beuatiful touch on the keyboard.

Unfortuantely Karajan & Weissenberg didn't record very much but this even filmed concert is another beauty and it is wonderful that we have that.

Enjoy Maestro von Karajan and Mister Weissenberg:heart:
