As I sit here on this dreary (but much cooler) Saturday, I find myself listening to someone many people once considered a true icon, in every sense of the word: beauty, talent, power. Nowadays, we attribute that title to way too many artists (yes, I enjoy some of these artists a lot of "stans" rep for, but they seriously need to take a step back, IMHO... this isn't here to start one of those useless arguments; just expressing a point), but this woman truly was something amazing.
I sat at my friend's house last night watching some of her YouTube videos from days before and it honestly broke my heart. What she once was many years ago is definitely not what she is now: blame it on the media, the drug usage, the marriage to someone she never should've been with in the first place, whatever... the point is the powerhouse Whitney Houston once was is definitely not what she is now.
I know that over time, she's become nothing more than a joke, but to those who grew up with her, we remember exactly what made her such a respectable artist once upon a time.
