Got an official start date, for a job, coming up in a couple weeks after already being hired for three months. Took so long I thought they didn't choose me!

I am happy for you. Although sitting by the phone to wait for the call is ancient history, it is still anxiety inducing to expect your cellphone to cue in a call from an interview. When I was interviewing applicants I always offered the job at the end of the interview because that’s how I got all my jobs when I was job hunting.

Just returned from a gorgeous Gospel Concert in a church in the city. It was marvellous and just in the moment both of us we are totally to bounce off the wall. (And perhaps he will be ready now to bounce a little bit more??? -:) )

Great songs and we all together have been too a choir! Super!

Great - from Monday until January 3 my office is closed. There will be only a standby duty at the telephone in case of .... (I hope nothing will happen!).

The last company I worked for always closed the week between Christmas and New Year but I came back alone anyway for half a day just to receive presents from suppliers. Delivery companies call ahead to ensure there is somebody there to receive deliveries. A quiet time too to scape crazy last minute shoppers and the din of carols playing everywhere, specially the Drummer Boy.

:p:p I think the same will happen to the poor guy who has to do this service this year!

You made the right decision. I think that's a perfect way to keep your mind active after retirement. Taking classes in retirement can also be a way to meet new people with similar interests and socialize.

Best of luck on your guitar learning journey! ;)

The first major purchase I made when I arrived in Canada and found work was a Yamaha guitar. The shop allowed me to pay for it in three instalments. I have always been with a guitar ever since. That guitar is still around being played by my niece’s son. Meanwhile, I have moved on to progressively more responsive custom made guitars and in my seventies still finding interesting pieces to learn and commit to memory. Any musical instrument is a boon companion in old age.

An acoustic guitar is ideal for a hobby instrument, it requires no electricity and is light enough to carry anywhere. Not at all like my husband's musical companion, an extremely heavy old piano. It took five strong men half a day to get it in the room so its as well that he likes it since he's stuck with it for life now. Just as he's stuck with me.

I finally got hearing aids last Friday, I put it off for years as many seniors do. I am so happy I got them because I have rediscovered how truly magnificent music and the sounds of nature are.
