Today it
finally feels like spring. It got above freezing... around +5C.
However, the news article that came out today puts the entire winter in perspective. The worst winter since 1898?! I love the opening... 1898 - back when the Spanish-American war was raging, Marie Curie discovered radium and the first motor-vehicle fatality was recorded. Yeah, there wasn't a colder winter since then!
Average tempuratures are revealing: average temperature in December was -20.5 C, followed by January (-20.0 C) and February (-19.9 C). Then came March, which averaged -12.5 C, almost seven degrees colder than average. Plus, there were 30 days where the temperature dipped below -30C (average is 12).

Basically, that thermometer haiducii posted above would have been busted most of the winter here. Gah!!!
