I've been re-watching (I think for the 3rd or 4th time) Fenton Bailey & Randy Barbato's documentary "Mapplethorpe: Look at the pictures" (2016).

I actually think that this docu is a lot better than Ondi Timoner's drama from 2018 "Mapplethorpe". Matt Smith playing robert Mapplethorpe is a bit more than OK, but otherwise it's too sloppy with biographical and historical facts.

No, anyone interested in the historical reality - go to Bailey/Barbato's docu.

Oh yes, she's a very interesting rock star lady - and she's still alive!!!

If you want a really good read covering the Smith / Mapplethorpe lovestory, you should look for Patti Smith: "Just Kids" (2010).

Patti Smith isn't just a bonafide rock legend - she's also a great writer!!!

Re-watching Christopher Nolan's "Dunkirk" (2017) with the elite of British actors (like Mark Rylance & Kenneth Branagh) and with Harry Styles doing his actor's debute. And Harry is pretty good!!!

Love Or Whatever (2012)

A very enjoyable, light-hearted romcom. The leads are cute (Tyler Poelle) and hot (Joel Rush, David Wilson Page). :thumbs up::heart:

Hello Gorgik9, you are totally right - this is a great film and it shows (so a movie really can show the cruelty of a war) the horror of war and the bravery from people of all kinds.

But now you should watch the film DUNKIRK from 1958 a Leslie Norman film. I think and it is my deep opinion, that this one will be the better one because this film was made only some years after the war and many of the actors surly have
lived to see this in original and therefore their play is deeper and more believable. But - it is my opinion - if possible, try to watch this one too!

Thanks for the tips!!!

My return tips is the latest filmatisation of Finnish novelist Väinö Linna's debut novel "Unknown Soldier" published in 1954.

This novel was made into a movie the first time already in 1955 by Edvin Laine, the second time by Rauni Mollberg in 1985 and the third and latest in 2017 by Aku Louhimies.

I haven't seen the first, I think I've seen the second & I bought the third as DVD last winter. It's a very powerful movie.

The Aku Louhimies film from 2017 I've watched as well. And in 2018 they have made from this film a 300 minutes long mini-series. :thumbs up:

:) Yes I am - and that because they've made so many good and honest war movies - without to peer for box-office returns.

Lots of fun with of course the added bonus of "eye-candy" Ansel Elgort... okay so his "thing" is listening to music as he drives and it would be a lot more interesting if his "thing" was just wearing a pair of white bulging Calvin K boxer briefs for the whole movie. Ah well I can dream - maybe that will be in the sequel "Baby Driver, Boxerboy" ;)
