The Loved Ones (2009)
This was on TV last night and although not my usual kind of film, since most of this genre bore me to tears, this one was different. It's a fairly low budget Australian horror, a sort of cross between Misery and Wolf Creek, and very well done. Mixes drama, comedy and gore very effectively. Not a pleasant subject matter but as a piece of film making it was, to me, one of the best in its category, better than all the bigger budget films of this nature. Normally I'd have given it half an hour at most and switched off.
Don't read too much about it as it'll spoil it if it's your cup of tea, just catch it when it comes on late night TV. How the awful, badly made and boring Hostel gets such publicity and this sinks almost unknown beats me!

the godfather - really is one of the best movies i've seen

The last movie was The Lost Bladesman. The main character was Kuan Yi. He was a honourable but feared fighter from the famous chineses novel 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

We've had a late night Horror season on one of our movie channels so last night watched an Australian (they're good at these 
) low budget flick called Primal (2010)
Very gory, quite tense for the first half or so, but then becomes almost a spoof)
Worth a watch if you don't want anything you need to think about and aren't offended by gore or cannibalism
