SLINGSHOT (2024)

An astronaut struggles to maintain his grip on reality aboard a possibly fatally compromised mission to Saturn's moon, Titan. Imdb

I struggled to maintain my interest. I'm not a fan of Casey Affleck, much preferrring brother Ben but thought I'd give this a go. Bad idea.

Well, I already finished the last season (started it last weekend) and it was so good. Not give spoilers but the first and last episodes mirror each other and it's the perfect ending. If you enjoy romance, drama, twists and turns this is definitely the show for you. Plus, tons of handsome men too.

SINGLE. OUT (2022--)

Following Adam's first sexual experience, his life is changed forever. Whilst juggling his job, a passion for art and new relationships he learns to come to terms with leaving the closeted single life. Growing up that fast is a balancing act between trying to keep everyone else happy and being true to himself. Being single was easy. Being out is hard. Imdb

This Australian TV series ( 2 seasons with season 3 due next year) is quite raunchy and very sweary - even the regular use of the "C" word. A funny script with some good looking guys, although IMHO 1 or 2 could do with changing their long hair for something closer to a buzz-cut.

Only 3 episodes in but I'm enjoying it so far..... depending on regional restrictions you might find them on YTube.

THE DIPLOMAT (Season 1 + 2)

In the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, lands in a high-profile job for which she is not suited, with tectonic implications for her marriage and her political future. (IMdB)

Wow only wow - this is the most exciting series since a very long time! If you don't watch it (on Netflix) you will miss one of the most thrilling series ever.

Started Season 3 of SLOW HORSES. ... no trailer as I don't want to see any spoilers

I had planned to just watch the opener but it I was so gripped trying to work out WTF was going on that I had to watch Ep.2 straight after (and I still don't know). The intrigue is still there as is the cracking dialogue with, as in the ealier seasons the excellent Gary Oldman having some of the best caustic, sarcastic & whitty lines.

MOONFLOWER MURDERS (BBC iPlayer)

After the last series of Magpie Murders, Lesley Manville reprises her role as the detective Susan Ryeland, who is engaged to investigate the disappearance of a hotel owner's daughter. As the story unfolds, it comes to light that Susan was an editor in a book publishing firm, where she helped publish a bestselling whodunnit. This bestseller was based on an actual murder eight years earlier, where an all-too-obvious suspect was blamed for the crime, but the real perpertrator remains unpunished. In solving the clues in the book, she hopes to unravel the present-day mystery of finding a missing loved one, as well as unmasking the real murderer from the past. This six-part mini-series had me engaged as it flipped back and forth between the fictional book characters, the characters from the past, and current characters. It had me totally engrossed right up to the end, with TRIPLE "reveals" in episodes five and six.

SLOW HORSES (Season 3) I just watched Ep. 3 & 4 and am absolutely loving it. After not having a clue after Ep 2 ended as to wtf was going on the plot was "revealed" within 2 mins of the start of Ep.3 .... then 10 mins later it's all back to WTF???. Lots of edge-of-your-seat stuff, a big Oh My Effing God! moment; lots of laugh-out-loud stuff then some WOW then more WTF?! - and that's only Ep. 3. Episode 4 carries on the thrill ride with the same mix of laughs and WTF?.

I had planned to maybe watch one episode a night with maybe 3 over this week and finish the other 3 next week but it's too gripping for that. If I thought I could stay awake I might have watched Ep 5 & 6 as well tonight but will tease myself and watch the finale tomorrow.

This show is highly recommended!

SLOW HORSES (Season 3) Eps 5 & 6

So Episode 5 begins with 2 characters enjoying an 18yr old "The Macallan" single malt scotch whisky. I don't have any of that at home but I followed their lead, clicked the pause button, and got a crystal tumbler and my 15 yr old single malt triple distilled Bushmills Irish whiskey and spent the next 90mins or so savouring both. The twists and turns, the subterfuge and scheming, the action, the OMG & WTF? moments and the laughs are all here. Intense edge-of-the-seat drama of the highest calibre.

Season 5 is apparently due to drop around June 2025 so I will try and hold off watching Season 4 until early next year. (but part of me wants to start watching it tomorrow night)

I wouldn't wait! Start watching tomorrow night and short before you know that season 5 is going on air, watch the last three episodes of season 4 and you are again in the thick of it! So we do always with series!

THE STICKY (2024)

Ruth Landry is a tough middle-aged maple syrup farmer, who turns to crime when the bureaucratic authorities threaten to take away everything she loves. She teams up with a hot-tempered Bostonian mobster, and a mild-mannered French-Canadian security guard to carry out a multi-million dollar heist on Quebec's maple syrup surplus. Imdb

This popped up in my feed via an algorithms as Jamie Lee Curtis guest stars. It's a wacky crime comedy caper - dumb but lots of fun. Based on an actual robbery, but as it says at the beginning of each episode "This is absoultely not the true story of the Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist"

I've started watching Lioness, it's a pretty good show if you like spy/espionage style shows. I just finished season 2; which was pretty good but I think season 1 was a bit better.
