Whats your internet bandwidth ???

Heyas lads,

I'm just curious about

What internet bandwidth you have?
How much you pay each month? (If you're willing to share)
How the service is?
What country you're from?

I currently have 120 gigs, connected to Optus (one of the big competitors) in Australia but my friend says the US have better internet bandwidths for better prices and greater speeds.

We've finally released more deals such as ADSL2+ 1TB bandwidth etc. I'm connecting to the 500gigs but heaven forbid I'd download that much. I will be uploading stuff next month though!

...I currently have 120 gigs...

120gb per... what? I am not sure how to interpret your number. It can't be 120gb per second. Can you clarify?

CNET has a bandwidth analysis tool on this page where you can find out what your actual speed is. (Speed is typically measured in kilobits per second (kbps) or megabits per second (mbps).

(Note that these are bits per second and not bytes per second. One byte equals eight bits.)

I have Comcast cable and it is reporting 12 megabits per second. I pay $50/month.

I currently have 120 gigs,

Hi Poison824 i currently have 100gigabit plan, connected to Telstra ( one of the biggest big competitors) in Australia, I pay around 79.95 month reason why the price is high is due to a bundle package which includes pay tv foxtel and internet broadband cable, landline telephone connection.

But the best news is finally we get speeds upto 100mb per second due to the Labor Government building the NBN ( National Broadband Network ) and finally i can download more content much faster now can't wait even they say in the future it might even go upto 100gigbits per second even better

At the moment only our ISP plans go BigPond Elite Liberty* (200GB) - Cable etc,I'm connecting to the 100gigs but heaven forbid I'd download that much
I wish here in Australia the internet speeds and limits where the same as UK, USA so i can upload and post a lot of stuff;).

I think he means 120gb per month, the question wasn't about speed, it's about bandwith, the amount of data you are allowed to upload or download in a given duration of time.

Most people using a cable connection in the USA have unlimited bandwith, but some other places are limited...

Sorry to be such a geek, but this is my professional field. Here is the first paragraph of the Wikipedia article on "Bandwidth (Computing)":

In computer networking and computer science, bandwidth, network bandwidth, data bandwidth or digital bandwidth is a bit rate measure of available or consumed data communication resources expressed in bits/second or multiples of it (kilobits/s, megabits/s etc.).

This sometimes gets confused with a "Download Quota" or "Download Cap" which is the maximum amount of data that can be transferred per month.

OK, now back to our regularly scheduled thread...

Currently have about 9.5MBit/s which is enough for me.
Does not need to be any faster, but the upload could be a little better.
my provider is 1&1 from Germany.
The monthly costs are 34,99€ which is not really cheap.

My dl speed on DSL is 3gigs with unlimited dl capacity. My cellphone varies from 1 to 2 gigs with unlimited capacity. (although I rarely use more than a gig or two per month) I may upgrade to my carrier's new 4G line which still gives me unlimited capacity at some vague higher speed. Some people report 5 gigs speed. (I tried a handset in store and they are indeed extremely fast) Plus I can use the phone as a hotspot and in eliminate the DSL line.

Unlimited is nice, but not every cable broadband operator provides it. Mine gives me (with their maximum and most expensive package) a cap of 175 GB monthly. Pretty speedy download rate comes with that - up to 50 MB/sec. The average user who likes to download lots music and videos, do online gaming and watch a couple of hours nightly of online streamed video, typically uses about 100-160 GB monthly, according to the business associations that most ISPs belong to. The variance is due mostly to what kind of gaming is used and what console supports that activity.
