"Why is it that we all like st8 guys?" you ask.

When I see a guy in the street whom I do not know and feel a certain 'attraction' toward him it makes no difference whether he calls himself gay or straight, it is just a physical attraction.

I couldn't agree more. Personally, I find the whole concept of "liking straight guys" somewhat strange. I mean, how could I possibly know if a guy I happened to see is straight or not? For every soft-spoken, effeminate man with a wife and a bunch of children there is an uber-masculine gay guy. And it's really not like everyone is open about their sexual orientation.

I like men. And just so it happens that most of men happen to be straight.

I'm often attracted to conventional masculinity, but that's not a trait exclusive to straight men.

I don't fall in love easily but rarely comes a case where I notice that one guy who is at peace with himself....there's not a lot of those......point being not everyone is attracted to straights!

I think there's a gay paradox to it all for SOME gays, not all. I'm ashamed to say that I've never been attracted to a gay male I've known. Where I'm from, the only guys to come out are completely feminized gay guys with the stereotypical "gay" personality. So, the paradox is that if gays like guys, why do so many of them feminize themselves? I know it's not all, but where I'm from, all of the "out" gays are basically that type of person, which doesn't attract me in the least. I know there are different layers to homosexuality and that some gays are attracted to feminized gays, but I think the ratio is completely disproportionate where I'm from. I'm not gay for feminized men. I like masculine men! It's easy for me to fall for straight men because they are the only available masculine men around. Maybe I just need to dig deeper for masculine gay men...

i do find conventionally masculine looking guys attractive, but as i get older i'm finding that guys i like have to have feminine personality... fem actions are cute/hot to me.

but i'm kinda normal looking and not that butch, the gay guys i date tend to complain that they want me to be more butch and "straight acting"???? anyways, i just fuck em harder to get the aggression out! lol no complaints in that department, even exes keep in touch, whores.

We like straight guys because we like guys, full stop. (Or 'period', as the Americans say :) )

My secret theory is we like straight guys because we are irresistibly attracted to what we cannot have. We hope that, after a bit of drink, they might allow us to do things, or that one day they might 'discover their secret gayness' but they don't. They just remain straight.

On an external level, the present obsession with image and the metrosexuality thing, has made them even more body conscious (up to about 15 years ago, the province of the gay male). Which makes them doubly attractive and us doubly frustrated. ~X(

For what it's worth, that's my take on things.

But thanks for an interesting topic :)

Absolutely agree with you b4pxku4u. Few words, but well-focused for a very interesting topic. :thumbs up:

i guess we go for straight men because they're harder to get.
and when we actually do "get" them, the wanting gets old.

well, in my opinion ;)

I prefer masculine guys so probably one of the reasons why
There are masculine guys in the gay community my friend... if you see me in the street (even if I am with my boyfriend Alex) you would NEVER and I'm telling you NEVER guess that I'm gay. I have none of those darn stereotypical traits that gay men are suppose to have (and we won't go over them lol). I don't dress according to Christian Dior (bah not true I have a lot of his clothes, as long his name doesn't appears too much lol) in short, I look like the genuine non gay guy. Alex a tall blond dude, also doesn't have gay demeanors but because of him being blond, cute and sexy people will often label him as gay no matter if he looks or act like one. In public we are the kind of couple that would just look like two super great friends that touches a lot each other... but that's just it... I hate being touched ;)

So straight = Masculine... no not a very good equation and not even close to be accurate. masculinity has been redefine and being masculine is no longer the Davy Crocket style.

:agree::agree::agree:

speaking as someone who has actually been told a couple of times by gay guys "you're not gay" i relate to what you are saying.

just because my interests, my behaviour, and the people i associate with don't fit the social cliche doesn't mean i'm not gay....

and conversely, working in the field i do, i have met many guys who seem "camp" (i wish there was a better word) who are quite happily straight married family men..

we really should be able to drop the stereotypes by now..

perhaps the original question should more accurately be "why do we all like guys?"

:):):)

I like guys in general. Gay or straight doesn't much matter. Eye candy is eye candy regardless of the subject's orientation.

Can't we put this "gay = effeminate" idea to bed once and for all? I for one find it offensive.
