will SOPA and PIPA pass?

tomorrow SOPA and PIPA are up for a vote in congress here...its about freedom of the internet...if they pass these laws what will happen?

im imagining that some of you know about this lol

but is it a political ploy?

the congress can pass a law but it can be vetoed by the president

so who's this supposed to help in the election?

Actually - the vote is on the senate on PIPA on the 24th, today was not a vote, but a protest day! SOPA is not up for discussion again until February!

I have to disagree. Big business, and their big money, is supporting it. Representatives and Senators go grabbing after that like game show contestants. Congress is less concerned with freedoms and even their own poll numbers than fattening their pockets. In the US now -- and I'm sure other places, as well -- as in ancient Rome if you want to get something done, then buy yourself a senator.

There is no doubt they love love love money. But, they also crave votes. Votes are what it's really about. Money helps buy votes, but it can only do so much.

Yesterday's action scared them, because they realised it could cost them votes. How do I know? Because a whole bunch of them ran away from the bills!

As long as corporations don't get votes, people still matter, and when the people shout very loudly, they can make themsleves heard over the money.
