I just installed windows seven, and all I have to say is wow. I did the beta tester for Windows seven before and was impressed then, but now after everything has been finished, its running insanely smooth on my pc. I have a dual core amd processor and when I had vista it ran sluggishly but with Seven its flying.

Is any one else out there going to get it or upgrade?

I never tried Vista. I tried Win7 at a friend who has installed it, but I'm still using WinXP :D

Win7 looks nice, but there are some changes in the interface, some folders are gone, some are merged etc., so I need some time to accept the changes :p

I'm sticking with XP, lol I've been tempted FAR TOO LONG about that "free" thing with Microsoft, that's why I turned my automatic updates off, it makes the computer very sluggish.

I'm going to have to purchase a new laptop in maybe 2 to 3 months .. so any comments/reviews of Windows 7 will be warmly welcomed.

I'd really like to replace my Vista (please don't laugh) with Windows 7, but first I'd have to get more RAM... and I can't resist buying dolls... I'm a Doll-junkie :(

its a lil better then vista to tell u the truth is just a clean up vista and the best way to get a new os is on a new computer.

its runs better on less hardware then windows vista did , it is the best windows ever thats not saying much but its still a good thing.

I wish we had a decent alternative to microsoft that is not so complicated like Linux or has compatibility issues like a Mac, although I know Macs are good!

ok just a quick run down :p
ive not used it much but my conclusions so far
the install was painless, surprisingly!! i done a clean install mind.
Booting from cd i was able to format c drive and install from there.
In all it took about 30ish minutes from start until i got into windows.
there was no hardware issues at all, everything was installed and working. nvidia did have new drivers out but i installed them no hassle either.
I slapped on the codec's and alike again no hassles and ms office no hassle
In all i spent little over an hour installing windows and all the codecs and office and avast. The fastest ive ever installed windows from fresh so that was impressive dare i say.
I went through a few of windows customisations and have it nice and shiny.
From the front apart from a few minor tweaks it looks and feels like vista. Start up is bit quicker i find and i do feel its tad more stable, though ive already had a BSD but that was from hibernation.
Can def feel its not so much of a resource hog either. For the stability and resource though i have to use it for a few weeks/months to render a better verdict.

All i can say for now is, the installation is painless. That is if your hardware worked under vista. For xp users have a look if your hardware has win7 drivers, if so u should be alright. There is a win7 hardware check from Ms to check it all.
Installing codecs for the videos (which is y most of us is here :p) was again painless and all seem to work (divx, vlc, quicktime etc..)
I have the 64bit version also and no problems seem to be arising from that either (i had a few with 64 bit vista in the early days)
Office also installed without a hassle.

Win7 i feel is like snow leopard for mac. its a more refined and toned version of the version that came before it. U might not notice much in way of new features or looks as this version they worked on the background more.

If u were waiting to upgrade from XP this might be the temptation that will get you to do it. Vista users if u hate vista and unhappy with it then def have a look at win7. might not make u happy again but might ease some tensions lol.

I will keep you all informed as i use it more and report any hassles.

I'm sticking with Vista for now. Haven't had any real issues with it myself. Really can't be bothered reinstalling everything for a 2nd time in a few months :p

Well, I ran vista on a PC with 1GB RAM and it was veeeeeery slow. Windows 7 on the same PC is much more faster and stable. ^^

Though it's an english Windows 7 I love it ;)

Does anyone have any experience regarding a clean install versus installing over Vista?

Well, I wanted to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7, but I couldn't ^^

I had a German Vista and a DVD with an English Windows 7, and it said I had to make a clean install.
But this worked fine too, though I had to reinstall all programs and get some of them new for the old install routines didn't work on 7 ^^

Hey, I just bought a new computer 3 days ago, as my old one died. I have used XP for years, now have W7. I think I like it, but too soon to tell - it is very different from XP, but seems more "intuitive", if that makes sense. Zero problems getting it up and running, and it seems to be very compatible with my browsers and email programs (Mozilla products).
