Just wanted to to celebrate my advancement into Guru status!
And here'sa poem i wrote that describes me in an a rather odd way:
"The man in the Mirror"
As I stand alone in the room of people, I Ask my self
Who am I?
I am from Afica:
where the rooster crows at 6 a.m.
where the kids scurry about for food to eat,
where the rich steals from the poor,
where the poor steals from the rich,
where people still manage to be happy regardless of their situation.
I am from a space in time:
where cows croak and frog “moos”,
where dogs are afraid of cats and cats are afraid of mouse,
where right is wrong and wrong is right,
when good is bad and bad is good,
where evil is just a perspective,
things aren’t always the way they seem.
I am from NewYork
where kids race at midnight,
where the homeless sleep under the subway,
where medicare and Medicaid is abused and misused,
where most immigrants settled during the age of the great migration,
where many were killed in the name of religion and power,
where many are discriminated against because of their race and ethnicity,
A city stitched together by hope, human faults and a dark history.
I am all this and more:
No single world describe me,
No one artist can paint a picture of who I am,
I am nothing yet I am everything,
The world is too complex for the naked mind,
And so am I.
…So dare I eat the apple that sits upon the golden throne
covered with poisonous snakes and devilish creatures?
Or am just another man in the mirror?
