ok maybe im known for my weird thoughts and posing in this section by now so what the hell lets have another....

i speak in this about america in paticular but i suppose the same can be said for most countries...
gay rights... how to get em and well protect em... they aint popular with everyone, some rights are controversial and congress well needs a kick lol
how to accompish this i ponder as i suppose many do...
well y not take a lesson from other groups, some maybe as controversial, wanting rights, getting protection and kicking congress, i speak of course to the NRA.
congress now lists the nra as the most powerful lobbiest in washington and if u look at the nra's figures they only have 4 million members. theres like what 10 million gay people in the US. surely a lobby of 10 million can accomplish what the nra does...
Takes time i hear people say, nra has been around for over 100 years to get where they are, this is true...
WAIT and idea!!!
kill 2 birds with one stone!!
get 5 million or more gay people to join the nra. they can vote to change the nra from guns to gays and vola, safer society and a pre-made lobby, the most powerful lobby to kick congress and well ruin any congress person even uttering a constitutional ban on gay marriage!
i would say we could get it to use the guns on congress if they thought of it but they'd be banned by then lol lol

You'll never now be able to remove the guns from America. Even if they were banned there are far too many around and too many think it's good to have one.

I know we get guns over here but they are illegal outside of gun clubs. It's illegal to carry a knife but lots do. Thank goodness they are illegal we'd have 10 times the amount of killings we already do at least.

I hate guns intensely. I'd rather fight with words, I cannot ever imagine pulling a trigger and killing someone! I cannot ever imagine thrusting a knife into someone's gut! I just don't know how anyone can actually do that and go away laughing!

This is the reason we have the right to bear arms in The Constitution, so that if the government ever becomes so oppressive that we will no longer stand for it, we will have the means to defend ourselves.

And if you think that the American government has already become too powerful for us to fight back, think again. The insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as others like the IRA in Ireland are proof the a small number of determined people can put up one hell of a fight, even against the mightiest of armies...:)

i just wanted a gay lobby lol

You should have seen the documentary on Channel 4 here in the UK this evening! Extreme Muslims infiltrating our political parties and wanting Shia law.

I knew all this stuff anyway as I'm quite aware of what goes on but it's still shocking.

Some more moderates are against them but it's still a worrying situation, partly because we will get more votes for the white extremist parties in the next election.

I think things are starting to break up! But it's a cycle and keeps revolving. Nothing changes, one empire replaces another over time!

I don't think the NRA is a strong or poplar as it once was. Actually I know this for fact.
I admit I was a member for several years, I don't believe in them anymore, now I think they're more of a joke. It wasn't always that way.
They were out to protect people and the right of hunters. My father growing up had to hunt to supply food to the family in winter. If there was a full moon, or close to a full moon, he would be out at night hunting and wouldn't have to go to school the next day. Back in those days there wasn't hunting seasons, and the counties even paid you for pelts of some animals because the would destroy chicken coops and such. But now the NRA is pro gun for everything. Jimmy over there needs a AK-47 for duck hunting, well the NRA will fight for him!!!! Who the hell needs and AK-47 for hunting!! No one, but the NRA has gone to ridiculous on the issue.

My father still has many guns. Mostly all shotguns for hunting, a couple rifles, and even a pistol for an American soldier carried threw the trenches in France during World War One.
I hope to have that pistol someday! To go with my other guns. I knew the man that carried it. He almost died from disease and the poisonous gasses. He fought so the rest of us could have the freedoms we enjoy today.

OK, I've gone way off. Sorry!

Anyway there are larger lobbyist group.
Retired people.
Realtor groups.
The real power groups are Oil, Insurance, and Pharmaceuticals.

The End
Tom

Just shoot me if I'm way off base here, or took a whole different meaning to your post.:p

UKIP seem to a reasonable alternative --but they seem to work hard at putting of a show, as though they might be radical. The only way for UKIP to gain a little leverage on anything would be an alliance (either formal or informal) with the Tories. So the net effect of voting for them would be even more exaggerated rhetoric, but at least the main issues would be highlighted, i.e. globalisation, Cap & Trade (scam), rate of EU 'integration', etc. I really cannot see UKIP being in anyway radical when it comes to gay rights, they would pretty much go with the conservatives on that front. They would have an issue with immigration, but most of them (despite appearances) are pretty tame to they could just go with trying to bring about long-term solutions (and yes, immigration is a problem, for everyone including immigrants)? Either way, there are bad, possibly chaotic times ahead -but do you stick with one of the mainstream parties (i.e. do nothing to effect change!) or take a risk for once? Or just not vote -which is understandable.

Nigel Farage, although I love his rhetoric, is shallow! I don't think they've gone much beyond pressure group status.

I am not interested in gay rights , we have those now and it's unlikely anyone will change that in the immediate future without committing political suicide.

There are more important issues at stake and I see the EU crumbling, mainly because of the undemocratic way it's organised. What the leaders want is for the people to have no say that gets in the way of their goal.

To some extent you have to have a gut feeling about these people. Get a picture in your head of Blair, Brown and Cameron all lined up and grinning perpetually, but their eyes never smile, they all have dead eyes. Now get an image in your mind of Farage pointing a finger at the three of them, with his hands on hips, red faced and bellowing "you couldn't make it up!" or "why do we put up with these whores!"

Yes you're right, even though I think Farage is a bit shallow he's doing and saying what so many want to say. I agree about the dead eyes! So true!

We have an election soon and the big decision is do you vote for the main opposition because the current lot have had their day and are tired or vote for who you really want knowing it will probably be wasted and might end up with the current party staying in power?

I'd vote UKIP or Libertas any day but we can't have a party staying in government for another 5 years or we end up like Sweden - an elected one party state effectively!

Are Libertas still going over there? Gosh, I though they were supposed to be a a near failure -just one Hungarian MEP I think?

Predictably, the Tories will get in. Nothing will change. If you are interested try to compare the Tories and the Democrats in the US -apparently the Tories always copy everything the Democrats do to win elections. So you might see similar logos, flags, posters and slogans. Cameron will thrust his manicured hand in the air while demanding 'hope' --blah blah blah. And of course there will be lots of excitement, debates on TV, vicious newspaper pieces, shocking revelations.... people will begin to kind of obsess, everyone will follow the election on the evening news... and then nothing will come of it.

:)) :))

You are so right!! Nothing will change, although I think for the first time since the 70s we're going to get a hung parliament. We may also get a few of the minority parties getting a seat. There is so much disallusionment (did I spell that right? :p ) it's almost bound to happen - plus Labour have changed the constitution boundaries, which actually puts the opposition in a disadvantage.

Very crafty!
