The Empire State Building in New York City, New York, USA under construction in 1930. The site was originally part of an early 18th century farm. It was also the site of the first Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. It was the tallest building in the world for nearly 40 years until the World Trade Center's North Tower was completed in 1970.
