I guess I really don't like sagging. I think it looks sloppy. That said, some guys can definitely pull it off.

For me, when it comes to fashion, I say wear whatever the hell you want. Who am I to judge what looks good and not good. So if you want to sag, sag. If you want to wear eyeliner, do that. If you want to present yourself in a three piece suite, all the better.

Just because I don't like something, doesn't make it wrong!

Very good answer and a very good attitude. :thumbs up:

Been a while since I checked out the latest replies, and I really like this reply. I have the same attitude about fashion. Just because I don't like something doesn't, or shouldn't, mean that I get to dictate what you do or wear.

To much time is spent worrying about what everyone else is doing, or wearing, in that person's life rather than worrying about what THEY are doing. I get that we can't just have people do whatever the hell they want to. But imagine how much better the world would be if we didn't spend so much time worrying about other people doing things that really don't make a different to ourselves? I hope I said that right.

i am surrounded by sagging (though not extreme) or low cut tight fitting jeans, and find this more appealing and less ridiculous than many of the looks of the past.

i am in complete concurrence with james1981 in saying wear what you want.
nazi fashionistas go home. who are they to dictate or even judge.

i have been wearing my pants off my hips rather than my waist since the early 90s. i don't like a waist band or belt buckle around my navel, it just feels uncomfortable - and will do so as long as it remains comfortable and i don't look ridiculous in the mirror.
(and i know that if i ever start wearing my pants around my nipples it will be time to shuffle off this mortal coil :)) )

i am constantly amused, or maybe bemused, whenever i hear or see people being judgemental about contemporary styles. i find myself thinking "can't these people remember how fucking ridiculous the styles of their youth were?"

the stuff i wore in the 80s was ludicrous, especially during the post punk and new romantic phases. zips and pads everywhere.
the fashions of the 70s were, quite frankly, ugly. shorts or hot pants so short that you would probably get arrested if you wore them in public these days, and jeans so tight that you found yourself looking away because you just did not want to see that much information. thank whatever power may be that by the time i was choosing my own gear, punk was underway .. that was my first 'look'
and the less said about the 'styles' of the 60s the better. better get me a bucket .. lol

and is there really anything more impractical and ridiculous than catwalk or high fashion of any period?

i am a firm supporter of the idea that you should wear whatever you want, however you want.

it is the role of youth, and of youth culture (style, music, leisure etc) to provoke, disturb, challenge, disrupt and inspire older generations. if the older generations are not shaking their heads and muttering under their breath about youth culture, then the youth are failing in their social purpose.

sag on whoever chooses to sag on

:):)

I as a member of the older generation agree 100 percent and if the day ever comes when the youth don't do this it will be a much sadder world.

I think sagging is one of the most idiotic trends that's ever happened in recent history

Take a look at the photo below. Because that's what the saggy jeans will look like in 20 years.

OMG my past has finally reached me X_X
That band (Bogart Co.) used to be my favorite when I was a child...

So, back to the topic... Personally the sagging looks just ridiculous to me, especially if the guy tries to run, but since my own way of dressing is my business only, I'm trying to be accepting. Everyone has their own styles and what one wants to wear, let them. But if anyone suggest to me to start using shoulder padding like we had to (almost all the clothes had those...), I'll either get violent or run away screaming ;)

In order to appreciate the styles of the 60s and 70s one had to be part of it. Bell bottom pants, paisley print shirts, dirndl dresses, long beautiful hair on both sexes, enormously large eyeglasses, platform shoes and boots and so many other fashion innovations it boggles the mind.

I remember a fad in the 80s that drove me nuts almost as much as saggy britches - untied shoe laces. That drove me absolutely nuts. I felt like my grandmother telling guys to tie their shoe laces or they would trip over them but I couldn't help myself.

Saggy britches ... it's not a style ... it's the lazy way of faking style. It looks like saggy diapers full of piss and poop. It's typical of a lost generation. Lost because of a lack of education, discipline, work ethic and the lack of a counter-culture.

The Baby Boomer Generation created a true counter-culture. It only lasted a few short years and when the mainstream culture adopted it the whole thing was over.

Looking back the hippie movement had some positive influence on society but knowing now what I didn't know then gives me the clarity to see that the hippie movement had more negative than positive energy and society suffers today because of it.

I hold my own generation to blame for much of the greed, vanity, vulgarity and superficiality that has corrupted society and led to the wealth-gap between the ludicrously rich and pathetically poor.

*steps down from soap box...*

I just feel that at the end of the day...every generation has a phase as to what is trendy or cool to them and this is how I see sagging. A lot of things that I see the younger generation I may not find appealing ...but I think about things that I've done that my parent(s) or older family members did not particularly care for so I just look at it as a circle of life so to speak.

you asked how low is too low? well, I saw this guy once who was sagging - front and back - and the head of his penis was sticking out of his waistband...he was young and thin and cute, so trust me, I didn't mind ;)

Not a fan, looks a bit childish, especially when they get so low they have trouble walking.

I say if a guy wants to wear his pants sagging, he should be allowed to let them sag. It's just funny when someone tries to run when their pants are sagging so low though and they forget to pull them up and hold them up.

As long as it's not overdone. Being able to see the elastic on your underwear I think is attractive on the right people. For the same reason a person undressing is more exciting than a person already undressed.

However, I don't like it when it's so low entire boxer shorts are visible. A lot to people trying to project a thug-like image do that and it just looks ghetto.

I also think that sagging is only appropriate for certain body types; some stuff works better in certain shapes than on others. Same as with cars, buildings, furniture, etc. With that said, sagging after 30 is like calling yourself a twink after 25.
