Delaunay-Belleville was the car of princes and kings at the 20th century beginning. At this age this company assembled also some steam locomotives.

The chassis and the engine, a six aligned cylinders in three blocks of two.

"Coupé-Limousine" with front phaeton Delaunay-Belleville 1908

Delaunay-Belleville 1911

Delaunay-Belleville torpedo 1917 - Among it prestigious customers the french constructor had the Russia Court. These cars, delivered just before the Revolution, were also used by Lenine and his comrades.

Jean Daninos created his company named Facel and began his work in the automobile in 1945. He made some bodies for Panhard (the aluminium body of the small Dyna X), Simca, Ford SAF, Bentley ...
In 1954 he began the assembly of his first car, a luxurious coach named Vega.
First the FV1 with a V8 De Soto engine, then FV2 with a V8 Chrysler 5 liter

Paris motorshow 1957, Facel presents Excellence the saloon version of the coach Facel Vega.

Facel Vega HK500 1958 - V8 Chrysler 5.9 liter - 360 ch - 220 km/h

Facel Excellence was assembled from 1958 to 1964, end of Facel.

Facel II 1961-1964 - V8 Chrysler 6286 cm3 - 390 ch - 240 km/h

Facellia : this car that could be the Facel-Vega for everyone became a fatal issue for the constructor

Pont-a-Mousson company and Facel made a beautiful engine 1600 cm3 double OHC and presented this reduced HK500 at Paris Motorshow 1959. To bad, the first year of production, this powerful motor had a lot of problems, especially some overheat issues. Facel fixed quickly it and a second version of this motor appeared in 1961 on the Facellia F2S. However, it was too late, Facellia costed a lot of money to Facel for the garantee and the bad reputation of the small Facel was made.
- Facellia coach or convertible : 1646 cm3 - 115 ch - 180 km/h
- Facellia F2S coach or convertible : 1646 cm3 - 126 ch - 192 km/h

Notice the dashboard that was not of wood but a sheet metal painted wood imitation by a true artist.

In front of the Facellia failure, Facel staff had to find quickly another engine. The one of the Volvo coach P1800 was chosen and Facellia became Facel III at Paris Mortorshow 1962. Then, at the end, there was Facel VI with Austin big Healey motor, a 6 aligned cylinders (very rare today)
Facel III : 1780 cm3 Volvo - 108 ch - 178 km/h (the best choice, I think)
Facel VI : 2852 cm3 BMC - 150 ch - 195 km/h (with a longer bonnet)
Facel exposed for the last time at Paris Motorshow 1964, but nobody could order any car

FORD 4 cylinders

T - 1908

T - 1915

T - 1919

T - 1923
Made from 1908 to 1927, the Ford T had a very long career. Starting 1914 Henry Ford decided to assembly his T model in serie, according Taylor principles. With more of 15.000.000 vehicles built, Ford had the record, out of date only by the Volkswagen Beatle in 1972. Ford T is the grandmother of all our cars!

A model - 1928

That Delahaye looks like it was the inspiration for the car that Butch (Tom's rich enemy in love) is driving in this 1956 episode of what is the greatest cartoon there will ever be. [01:44 for those who can't spare 03:17]
