1964

The Panhard 24 presentation in July 1963 among the water lilies remain famous in the little Panhardist world.
At this time Panhard believe yet in future.

This Panhard 24 BT with the colors of a famous aperitif would be the last Panhard car come out from the assembly line in July 1967.

Panhard sad in 1965 and happy in 1991, there is no more the competitors pressure for the centenary.

Of course, it is not Paul Panhard who drove the first Panhard in 1891 (he was 11), but his uncle René and the mechanical Emile Levassor.

"Here is born the automobile industry in 1891", we can read on the plate at the 18 avenue d'Ivry (Paris), in front of the destroyed Panhard factories. Today there are some buildings.
Peugeot was not far behind!

Classic Renault models Mona, Viva, Reina, Prima... (1928 - 1939)

Louis Renault, from the genius mechanic in 1898 to the rich landowner in 1938 at Herqueville in northern Normandy.

New models 1928 : Monasix and Vivasix inaugurate some new model names. More glamorous than NN, KZ, NM ..., Mona would be the first name of a pretty secretary working at Billancourt. From this date, Louis Renault begins to change the range of his models.

Monasix, powered by one of the smallest six-cylinder (1.5 liter).

For 1934, new tilted radiator gril on all the models and "aerodynamic" bodies for 6 and 8 cylinders from Paris motorshow 1933 then for all the models early 1934. It was more a fashion than a scientific study. At this time, we were (already) in a big economic crisis and it was a good way to sell more cars !
Two new models : Celtaquatre and Vivasport

Celtaquatre, the new Renault low scale model powered by the Monaquatre engine.

Presented at the same time (spring 1934) and sold at the same price, Celtaquatre is the Renault answer to the Citroën 7 Traction.

This Monaquatre has already the tilted radiator grill but not yet an "aerodynamic" body.

Primaquatre old body

Primaquatre new body said "aerodynamic".

In 1936 the Renault range is simplified. 3 models are deleted : Monaquatre, Vivasport and Nervasport.
All the bodies are widened while the footboard disappear. 6 & 8 cylinders get the style of the Viva Grand Sport : headlights built in and wide radiator gril.

New downmarket Renault, the Juvaquatre and a simplified Primaquatre, the Novaquatre.

Early Juvaquatre are available only in 2 doors saloon version. For the first time at Renault : Independant front wheels suspension and monocoque body! On the back, we have always the rigid axle and the transverse leaf spring specific Renault.

1937 Berlin motorshow : Louis Renault, bent head, seems very interested by the Opel Kadett and, one year later, the Juvaquatre appear...

Novaquatre

Primaquatre, straight bumpers allow to recognize a model 1938.

Above : Vivasport
Below : Viva Grand Sport

The new Suprastella, a eight-cylinder presented in april 1938, replace Nervastella and Nerva Grand Sport.
The radiator grill announce Renault models 39.

New Primaquatre Sport is a Primaquatre 12 centimeters longer and 4 HP more powerful. New radiator grill for all the range except Juvaquatre. New headlights for 6 & 8 cylinder models.

From the Juvaquatre catalog delivered to the motorshow 1938 visitors. One year after its launch this model exist always only in coach two doors version. The constructor try to explain that two large doors is better than four small.

Spring 1939 : At last a Juvaquatre four doors saloon. This time, "one door by passenger" is the better solution. Do you understand anything?

Novaquatre is the favorite car of taxi drivers. The motor, more economic than the Primaquatre Sport one, is also less powerful (48 HP instead of 56 HP).
