I've been having a conversation with a conservative friend. I thought I'd put this to a pole. Notice I'm not asking if you believe you will be going to hell. Just want to know if believe you're going to heaven or not. If you don't believe in heaven then vote no.
There is an option for non-believers, it's 'no, I don't believe I will go to heaven'. It's precisely set up that way so you can vote no you don't believe you're going somewhere you don't believe exists. I thought that would be obvious.
No one is going to say 'I believe in heaven but I'm not going to go because I'm a bad person'. Thats moronic so that option would be pointless.
To be honest I should have just named the poll 'do you believe in heaven?yes/no' purely because those who believe in it think they're going there and those who don't believe in it don't believe they will be going there.

I do believe that that would've been a better choice.
And I agree with ihno, I think there are a lot of people that think that 'I believe in heaven but I'm not going to go because I'm a bad person'.
I won't make a bigger deal of this than neccessary but this is all I have to say about the third option. Offering the third option may make some people feel better but I deliberately left it out as it reinforces the idea that there is a heaven and because you were born a certain way you're not going there because your damned. It's wrong for anyone to torment themselves believing in something that goes completely against their nature.
The way I see it, if you're conservative and have certain sexual leanings but you can put all that aside and take fulfilment from your 'wholesome' life and religion and expect to go to heaven then that's great.
If you're someone who doesn't believe in 'heaven' but leads a good fulfilling life and is at peace with themselves then great too.
I'd only be against anyone leading an unhappy life because they can't come to terms with who they are and the beliefs they were fed. There shouldn't be this 'third' miserable option. That thinking is totally wrong. I'd like to think people are happy and fulfilled whatever their opinion on this matter.

"do you believe in heaven" and "do you beleive you are going to heaven" are not actually the same question. You can't imagine people who would vote differently in both poles, but I think you're wrong.

But I'm going to hell, and evil ehm.. sry even can't wait I will be there!
Translation:
Hell is already waiting
I've seen the heaven, it's too cold out there
just blue with white, turned air-condition
I saw the heaven and was quite annoyed
that I should perhaps remain permanently
This is what heaven is missing the main
Who could be seduced by sexless angels
This foolish heaven I have to left!
As I see it, I'll try competition
I'll wait until the elevator comes
I press a button with way down
wait until the elevator come
we meet again, we'll be together
Hell is just waiting
why thou art afraid
We'll laught at heaven
Wheter it doesn't make an itch
Hell is already waiting
why thou art afraid
Devils are a bit drunk
same as you and I
Satan was welcoming me, this is hell he told
He had a nice clothes, looks perfect
Satan was welcoming me, waiting for his own
and all around just boomed Metal
In this hell, I have no doubt
Will be no problem to make a good fun
In this hell, I will meet together,
As I see it, all my friends
I'll wait until the elevator comes ...
Hell is already waiting ...
Now seriously. These religious freaks who are afraid from hell, just destroy their own lifes and are just puppets owned by preachers. They maybe should care about present time, instead being depresed from Jusus Christ's pain 2 thousand years ago and being scared where they will get after death. I think everyone will go under groud or to crematorium, and thats the reason why I keep trying enjoy life as long as I'm alive.
I believe that I am going to heaven. I agree with some comments that the focus should not be about am I going to heaven or not. To many people in the church focus on where they are going when they die, they are in, so they don't have to worry about anyone else. When I think that if we are true to Jesus then we need to be making a difference in this world. By that I mean helping people and making lives better, bringing justice to the world, not going around and Bible bashing people. (Sorry for the sermon, just wanted to put down my ideas).
Okay this thread is about 2 pages in I think its time I state my opinion. First of all I do find curiosity in your question but I feel like questions like these try to put religion into a check box which is impossible. Their is a HUGE difference between believing that you will go to hell and not believing in hell. How ever tragic it is that a person would believe they are going to hell they still believe it and therefore makes it necessary for the option of I do believe in heaven and hell and also believe that I am going to hell. The choices should have been as stated. I do believe in heaven and hell and believe that I am going to heaven. I do believe in heaven and hell and believe that I am going to hell. I don't believe in heaven or hell therefore making this question irrelevant to me. You could also add a choice like the following. I do believe in heaven and hell but believe that god will decide where I shall go. Religion is a touchy subject not to be taken on lightly. Every single person has their own opinion about it to which they hold near to the core of their beliefs.
Why would I want to go to heaven? It's bad enough having to share a lift with the prissy self righteous god worshipers never mind sharing all everlasting eternity with them. Better to go to Hell and watch all the old ex-popes and conservative party leaders getting what they deserve.
So at the moment, 5 people believe they will be going to heaven because they are great souls and are comfortable with the way their loving God made them and 6 people dont believe they will be going because heaven doesnt exists...... Unless of course your talking about 'Heaven' the greatest and bestest gay nightclubs on the planet in London
To go deeper into the question, consider the relation between heaven as a prize for doing good, hell as a penaly for doing bad, and free will.
God gave man free will because without it there would be no moral value in good deeds, if it is not possible to choose sin then you are not a better person for rejecting sin, you can do no other.
I believe that if I do a good act it has a higher value if it is done without reward, money, thanks, or the promise of eternal life but simply because it is good to be good. And in the same way it is better to avoid harming others because it is bad to be bad, rather than out of a fear of punishment in the afterlife.
A truly virtuous person would not then not spend their life looking forward to heaven as if it were an end of contract bonus payout but just accept that whatever will be will be. Or if you're me, whatever won't be won't be.
And I have been to heaven already, the music is great, as is the sex in the toilets but the beer is crap.
