holy CRAP Prince that was VERY cool! Amazing that series is still going...we got old re-runs in America on cable and I thought Tom Baker was the sh*t! Fell in love with it after that w/old doctors and the new. Funny thing is no one under 25 in the US has ever seen a phone booth - do they still have Police boxes in the UK?

Holy cow! That's better than some of the REAL opening sequences have been. Perhaps this "fan" needs to get in touch with the studio and make big money.

Like garth33, I first caught old reruns in the USA, but on Public Broadcasting in the 1970s and the 1980s. I didn't get a lot of it then; I've been hooked since the "reboot". I'm looking forward to how Peter Capaldi will handle The Doctor.

Yes, that's very professional and fans of the old series might have noticed the very short face coming towards the screen as it was custom back then.

One thing disturbs though: the name Steven Moffat.

I look forward to Capaldi but I think it's more than time that Moffat lets someone else do the work. He went out of ideas a long time ago. A new doctor is nice but what is he good for if you still have a producer, who repeats himself over and over again?

just an FYI...the series is still playing new episodes on BBC America (not right now though - on a break after they killed off MY Doctor, Matt Smith) and you can watch the whole series 1-7 of the new era, starting with Christopher Eccleston as "The (Ninth) Doctor" for 1 series, David Tennant as "The (Tenth) Doctor" for 3 series, and Matt Smith as "The (Eleventh) Doctor" for 3 series on Netflix..

Hi Guys

hidden content may not be quoted

WOW!!!!! that vid was AMAZING!!!!!!

the only problem I can find is that it says "Peter Capaldi" :( the REAL Doctor is Matt Smith! ;)

I won't be watching it when some old guy tries running from the Daleks and breaks his hip! ;) lol PLUS, he had maybe 2 lines in "The Time of the Doctor" and I nearly had to turn on closed captioning for a Scottish English to American English translation!

and I agree with Ihno that it's time for Moff to devote all his time to "Sherlock" and give someone else a chance with the Doctor - and NOT Mark Gatiss!!!! he's way too corny!!! the kid who gives the Doctor directions in old England in "The Crimson Horror" is named "Thomas Thomas"??? REALLY???? ~X(

Be a little more open, my friend. ;)

I'm sure Capaldi will be lovely. I also know the old episodes (doctors 1 to 8), older men can play the doctor just fine.

just out of curiosity, would you want William Shatner playing "Capt. Kirk" now that you've seen Chris Pine in the role???

besides, if YOU could regenerate into anyone of any age, would YOU regenerate into an old man??? lol

Who is Chris Pine? ;) I found those movies very badly written and boring. The Chris Pine-character was promoted directly from the academy to be the captain of the Enterprise. Half of the crew haven't even finished their academy years. That's not Star Trek any more, that's a silly comic strip.

Exception is only Zachary Quinto. But there is a little difference: Shatner is over 80 now. I bet you are a Star Trek TNG fan: Patrick Stewart was 47, when he resumed the role of Picard.

And no, I don't want to see a 15 year old doctor.

besides, if YOU could regenerate into anyone of any age, would YOU regenerate into an old man??? lol

That's the series. The first doctors were older or as old as Capaldi. And it worked.

We'll see and talk again when the first episodes have been on air. :D

When does it start btw?

Very cool video! I have high hopes but *very* low expectations for this series, given the mess they made in "The Time of the Doctor."

Hehe, I loved "The day of the Doctor" but with "The time of the Doctor" I have to agree. :D (I had to check, which episode you mean, I just can't keep those "The XYZ of the doctor" episodes apart. ;) )

hey! maybe we agree on something Doctor-related! :D

I loved the "Day of the Doctor" too! even bought the BD! ;)

but thought "Time of the Doctor" was the WORST Christmas "special" I've ever seen...even though I've only seen the ones since the Ninth Doctor :)

well, the question wasn't about the scripts (which were written by some of the same writers who wrote for one or more of the Star Trek series, I think I saw somewhere), it was about the actors who played Kirk and I think Chris Pine makes a better "Kirk" than Shatner did, even when the series started...

well, they don't HAVE to be 15 ;) lol but I would have rather seen someone like Benedict Cumberbatch as "The Doctor" - think he would be awesome in the part! Maybe even Daniel Radcliffe (don't know too many more British actors ;) lol)

don't know when it starts and nothing is on BBC web site about the start date... but this site says in late Summer or Fall - but maybe in July, too ;) lol http://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/doctor-who-series-8-2014-what-we-know-update-60972.htm

so what would you think about a Doctor with question marks all over his clothes and cane? ;) lol j/k

To appreciate the acting I need a good movie or script.
Same is with a good singer. Can't appreciate a good voice when the song is bad.

Lol, Daniel Radcliffe is good one, hot guy. :D But I don't want to turn doctor who be become a total teenie-soap.

I liked Capaldi in the roles I've seen him and so I'm looking forward to him.

But this year, not next one. :D

The first four doctors were great. They had charsima. The series lost lots of its appeal when John Nathan Turner took over. This includes the question marks. :D And I'm not into mimiking the old series. (I liked the well hated No 6. :D )

but if an actor does a good job with a bad script, doesn't that mean he's a better actor than one who does a good job with a great script? :?

I've seen him in 3 or 4 or so...Torchwood, "Fires of Pompeii" episode of "Doctor Who" and a couple sitcoms...he always looks to me like he's a dirty little man...and that accent makes it hard to believe he's speaking English :rolling eyes:

But this year, not next one. :D

yes, this year...gotta have a Christmas "special" ;) lol but did you notice in "Time of the Doctor" X-mas special, 11 didn't even regenerate like 9 & 10? or maybe they cut that part out for US in order to get in more commercials...either that or they blew the FX budget in "Day of the Doctor" :duh:

it just seemed to me that Moffat and Gatiss go in for corny crap too much - like the question marks - especially as an "homage" to the old episodes and maybe to keep the traditional Whovians happy...but I only saw the old episodes that were on BBC America during the countdown to the 50th anniversary, and they looked so bad, especially compared to the modern ones...maybe because of their budget...but the acting was also bad, imho - actors probably weren't used to acting for TV and just acted like they were still doing Shakespeare at the RSC...

ever hear of Chameleon Circuit (the band, not the thing that makes the TARDIS blend in - until it got stuck as a police call box, that is ;) lol)

anyway, they are really BIG Who fans - so big that they write & sing songs based on "Doctor Who"...here are a couple I like:

http://youtu.be/VQlBJYh2baw

http://youtu.be/CYB8MXWqLKI

enjoy! :D

2 questions:

1) did you ever want to build an actual (though non-working :( lol) TARDIS?

2) just curious...what kind of speakers do you have with your computer? just got a set of Insignia for US$20 -R,L, and sub- to replace some LabTec that died...actually sound pretty good, for the price! but wondering what you have?
