here's where I got the ratings info:
Yes, I use the same source.
it went from 9.17 million for 1st episode to 5.03 million for 10th episode in overnight viewer ratings - ....
Well, I think you simply don't like Capaldi and try to prove that everybody else sees it like you.
But there is nothing unusual about this seaon, it does just as good - and partially even better - than the seasons before.
It's the finals that count, not just the overnight. The finals also include those watchers, who watch doctor who online during the next week and that could add up to 3 more million. So you won't know the ratings for the new episode 10 before November 2014.
The first episode had a substantial plus in watchers, when everybody was curious. It had always been like that.
Here are the final ratings for season 5 when Smith was the new doctor in comparison. It was the same story though with on about one or two million less watchers:

Actually, Capaldi's first episode had the most watchers since 2010. Almost 11 millions watched it.

You are taking the best ratings the series had in four years and handle that as the average peak. But it is not like that. That turns a great success into a failure. You could also take the 50th year special and compare that to yesterday's episode (which was terribly bad btw, the worst I have seen in years).
The ratings are stable in the UK. doctor who did
not lose 33% of it's audience and there is also no substantial complaint about the new doctor in the fanbase.
If you want to know if doctor who lost watchers you have to compare the average peaks of the seasons 8 and 7, not compare selected episodes with each other. Here is season 7:

Season 8 is more sucessful than season 5, less sucessful than season 7 (didn't check for six). Not really something to worry about.
But, yes, there are 2 more episodes starting 1 November...maybe they'll be good, but BOTH are being written by Moffat, so it's a 50-50 chance, I guess...although I did like Pandorica Opens/Big Bang 2-parter...
Well, as I wrote before
I think Moffat should do other stuff.
I liked his 50th year special and he has promised not to put creepy children singing in a monotone voice in his script but he's worn out. I guess I will watch those last two episodes together since there will be a cliffhanger.
