I thought I had a twin? Almost....

Hate Twinings tea and won't touch tea bags.

But, if you add Ardbeg Corryvreckan and a few other names

though no water (or ice) comes anywhere near my whisky. I like it completely unadulterated.

I'm a big fan of the slightly sweeter-tasting German lagers.

Hello 'brother'!!!
I'm with you on the tea bag thing but I do like Twinings Earl Grey

I could add Jura Superstition or Highland Park

I once knew a blender who claimed it was important to add a few drops of spring water to the whisky to 'release' the flavours. I have found that I very little does make a big difference...but each to his own.

And I don't know many german beers...I liked Grolsch and Becks before they started making them on licence in the UK. Not so sure now.

Irish Baileys?

Yes I like it too... but I would never have more than one, and only after a meal. Otherwise it is too rich, and makes me queezy too easily.

I'm told that a small glass of Bailley's mixed with a glass of milk makes a lovely long cold drink on a hot day. Might that reduce your tendency to queeziness?

Ooh! I'll give it a try. I do like the taste of Bailey's... mixing it with cold milk sounds very different and refreshing.
:)

Ooooo....that reminded me.....Kahlua over a good home-made vanilla ice cream is fantastic. Mind you so is Cassis or Crema di Limoncello.

Or Nutella warmed in a microwave then mixed with a little Kahlua to make it into a thin sauce. God! I'm common. Kill me!

Actually, Lindt 60% dark chocolate, microwaved with 100ml of single cream and a measure of Cointreau makes an exquisite chocolate orange sauce! :pP :thumbs up:

Mmmmm....I'm not convinced by that. I find five to ten minutes just sitting in a glass opens up most good whiskies much better than adding water does. But anything is preferable to drowning it in coke or ginger ale. It's a bit like ordering lobster and asking if the restaurant has any ketchup to put on it. I think Gordon Ramsay might stab you in the eye with a fork!

Sitting in a glass for a short while opens up good cognacs and armagnacs too. Much better than the old nonsense about warming the glass with your hands.

One of these days I'll branch out and start tasting Irish whiskies. I know nothing about them at all.

I would never add 'mixer' to whisky. I think anything 'carbonated' causes the consumer to become drunk sooner - though I may be wrong on that. I certainly know I dont like the flavour of my whisky with mixer in. The water I add, is barely half a teaspoonful, and hardly affects the taste. But as I said...each to his own.

It's very easy to become pompous about how you take your drink and some consider what they do to be 'the right way' or the 'better' way and so this gives them the opportunity to look down on those who take their alcohol in a more diluted fashion - but who cares? It's so personal that it matters not a jot.

I once attended a wedding where a guy asked for Whisky and Raspberry!!! Not my taste, and purists would have heart-attacks but if it's what he likes, then who cares a damn? At least he's doing his bit to keep the whisky industry in business.

So who does know about Irish whiskey on here?

I was snooping around Sainsbury's and it seemed to be just Bushmills in half a dozen different age ranges. There must be more to it than that.

I have never visited. Does Ireland have the same tradition as Scotland? Lots of little distilleries with distinct flavours all their own?

Edit: OMG...My avatar just changed. I'm a 25 poster! I'd like to thank The Academy...my parents... my pet goldfish Julian...my agent....
