Hi!

I present to you my dilemma.

I DL a lot of stuff, both porn and tv programs.

Files are saved in a 1 TB external hard drive.

Now, I've saved a lot of files that I'm in my last 50 Gb of space. One solution is to delete files. This is quite easy, especially for porn because models have more than one scene.

That solution is for individual scenes (say for C F and S C etc.).

I also noticed that I have some full-length porn movies and here is where my dilemma lies. There are some films that I do not thoroughly enjoy. So it got me thinking that maybe I can save the scene/s that I like and delete the rest of the film from my hard drive so I can save space. I'm wondering if this is possible. If yes, can someone help me locate a free software that can extract scenes from a full-length film.

If you want to delete stuff after a while I suggest to move the files into folders like "good"/"mediocre"/"yuk" after you first watched them. That makes it easier to sort the boring stuff out later. It's also a precaution not to delete something you like accidently.

As for cutting movies/taking single scenes: There is software for that. I'm, not an expert on those, someone will give you tips. You can even do that with vlc-player. There is one problem though: the cut scenes might not always be much smaller than the original.

I also recommend to keep the original movie anyway. It happens that the quality of the cut/your version is worse than the whole movie. You might later realise that there are distoritions here and there in your fave scene but you can't recode them a second time because you have deleted the original source.

So.... why don't you buy a second external harddrive? If you dl a lot and even if you delete stuff you will come to the limit again soon.

Yes there is a software that allow you to extract scenes from full-length films, i use a video convertor program called "iSkysoft Video Converter Ultimate" , its not a free app, but i found a crack for it that makes it 100% free without paying, the only problem is you cannot update the software, to the latest version cause if you do then the crack won't work anymore and you have to re-install the app again.

Why not buy a second HD? Well, if I buy another one, it will be my third HD. :worried: Honestly, when I bought my second HD, I resolved that it will be my last. I also resolved not to build a porn library.:rofl: But some porn scenes these days are presented in 1080p ~X(. So size eats space (hence the title of this thread).

I will be heed your advice about the quality of the extracted scene.

Yeah, it's wise to delete stuff from time to time. Checking the files takes a lot of time though and since harddrives get cheaper and cheaper it's a question what works best.

I do it too but I have also regretted to have deleted some few files. I have a folder with my fave stuff and I make a backup from time to time.

If you know the names of the models in the scenes you enjoy (and they are not too common of names) you may be able to do a search for just that particular scene. Yes, that too is another solution. It works particularly well for studios that release individual scenes and later compile them as a full-length film. LE, NekidSw0rd are just some of the studios that employ this kind of format.

Recently, I deleted an LE video that I had which was 1 Gig in size (1080p). I found another link of the same video but with a much smaller size (520p). So problem solved! Downloaded the new, smaller file and got rid of the bigger file.

But it does not work all the time.

Some scenes are released as 1080p and there no other DL options. Some scenes have options from 480p to 1080p but uploaders will only provide the 1080p file. (Some uploaders are kind and will provide you with other DL options).

And then there are files that are quickly deleted ~X(. The last one is a particularly thorny issue leveled against uploaders.

I'm particularly looking for a video of A drian L ong and J ustin C ruise from LE but I can no longer find one.

Why do I prefer a file with lower resolution?

Well, I've been watching Internet porn since 2008 and my god back then there were no high-res videos. But I enjoyed those early scenes because they were well produced.

It's definitely possible to extract scenes from movies, but it's more work than you might think because all our modern video formats are compressed, and hence not in a directly editable format.

The short version is that when editors are editing together videos, they have them in uncompressed formats that are literally a series of photos (called frames). You then cut and change and move things about by moving around groups of frames, easy peasy!

These uncompressed formats are MASSIVE, so before an edited video is published, it gets transcoded to a compressed format.

These compressed formats are not a series of frames, but, a few keyframes, and then a list of what pixels to change for each frame until the next key frame. This means you can't just arbitrarily put in an edit point and slice, because you're more likely to miss a keyframe than to hit one!

To edit a compressed movie easily you need to un-compress it, edit it, and re-compress it. It can be done, but it's SSSSSLLLLLOOOOWWWWW!

If hard drives were expensive, it might be worth the time and effort, but they are not. They are dirt cheap - you can pick up a 4TB bare drive for not much over 100 bucks, so if you can easily quadruple your current 1TB drive.

The trouble with extracting scenes from movies is that it can take a lot of time and quickly become boring when movies are in different formats and you've got to download several softwares. Why not put the full movies on USB sticks?

I might be a little weird, but after having a couple hard drives crash on me with everything on them, and then non-recoverable, I also keep everything on external hard drives. I have three 2TB hard drives which is more space than I can possibly fathom. One is for all the porn, one is for music and movies, and one is for all the other junk. I have them all connected to an external USB extender. Hard to describe but I plug it into the computer and it has four USB slots so I can have all three hard drives connected at the same time. I'll never have to delete anything. LOL.

I don't think you're weird at all...or maybe thats just because I am, too but I have 4 external hard drives hooked up right now, too! 1 is for backup with TimeMachine, 1 is basically for everything I download (especially porn lol) and the other 2 are hd's that crapped out at some time but seem to be working at the moment...actually, now that I think about it, not really any reason to keep them hooked up...hmmmm...and if you were wondering 2 are USB and 2 are Firewire (the 2 Firewire ones are the ones that crapped-out)

You don't have to have all your externals attached to your computer all the time. This will be no problem, as long as you connect them from time to time (all three or four months).

I have several externals, one is attached constantly, the rest only from time to time.

P.S.: No more from seagate! Buy some from WD.

If I remember right, I paid around $90 for each of them on sale at best buy. Hell I just looked it up and you can get a 5TB from SeaGate for $149. They are not very expensive for shit loads of storage.

I have all three hooked up at the same time. I bought this little thing from Dynex that you plug into a USB port and it has four USB ports on it. So I have the three hard drives, and my webcam plugged into that, my LG Bluetooth Speaker Bar into a USB on the actual computer, and then my external keyboard power cord, and the USB for the keyboard and my mouse plugged into another Dynex on the other side. And it all works fine.

The external drives that I have are from WD and I have never had any issues with them.

well what I do is re-encode every hd or large videos that i really like to a less space consuming container (i.e .mov to .mp4), you could save up around 30 to 50 % from the original size without losing the quality.

My OS is Windows 8 but you can also recommend for Apple users.
