Office Christmas Party

Fifth of British workers admit to having sex during an office Christmas party

5de34562085242.jpg

A FIFTH of workers have romped in the office during a Christmas party, a survey has found.

And 41 per cent of younger staff get jiggy on a desk, the floor or the photocopier.

A poll of 2,000 Brits by luxury sex toy company Lelo also found that Brits expect to have 25 per cent 'more sex' over the festive break than during the rest of the year.

Sex toy firm Lelo found 28 per cent of men took a condom to a party in the hope of getting lucky, compared to just 11 per cent of women.

Lelo added: “Brits have more sex at Christmas than any other time.”

"Christmas is a time for giving and receiving, in every sense of the word. :p

Queen of Christmas making chart history in the United States

Wish Come True: Mariah Carey scores her 19th Number 1 single in America (surpassing Elvis Presley on 18) as her 1994 carol "All I Want for Christmas Is You" hits No. 1 on Hot 100, 25 years after its original release. Congratulations!

First holiday No. 1 on Hot 100 in 61 years: Carey's "Christmas" is the second holiday No. 1 ever on the Hot 100, joining The Chipmunks' "The Chipmunk Song" (with David Seville), which ruled for four weeks in 1958-59.

Double heating record: 19 degrees in Norway

It has been a hot start to the year in several parts of Norway. During Thursday, the January record was broken twice. First, 18.6 degrees were measured in Åndalsnes. A temperature that was then hit in nearby Sunndalsøra when the mercury reached up to 19 degrees on the thermometer.

Anyone who is heading to central Norway to experience the true winter can be disappointed. On Thursday, it is rather closer at hand to wear the shorts than the mittens. Two times, the heat record in Norway for the month of January has been struck twice, reports NRK.

First, 18.6 degrees were measured in Åndalsnes, which is located in Møre and Romsdal county. Shortly afterwards, it became even hotter in Sunndalsøra as it became a full 19 degrees - that is, on January 2.

Today is the only palindrome date of this century

Sunday is shaping up to be a unique day for reasons other than the Super Bowl and Groundhog Day: It's also a rare palindrome.

The date — February 2, 2020, or 02/02/2020 — is a palindrome, meaning it reads the same forwards as it does backward.

The eight-digit date is especially rare because it works in both America, where dates are written as day-month-year, and in other countries where dates are written as month-day-year.

The last time such a palindrome occurred was 909 years ago on 11/11/1111. It won’t happen again for another 101 years, when the calendar turns to 12/12/2121.

André Rieu & Johann Strauss Orchestra - Ode To Joy

EU's official anthem Ode to Joy hits No.1 on UK download chart.

As well as being the most downloaded song of the week, it has also made an entrance at number 30 in the official UK singles chart.

A version of the classical piece, written by Ludwig van Beethoven in 1785 and conducted by Dutch violinist André Rieu, has climbed at the top of Amazon's best sellers list in the UK.

Well the POEM "Ode an die Freude" was written by Friedrich Schiller in 1785, but the choir (using Schiller's poem) we all know so well is the final movement of Ludwig van Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, completed and staged for the first time in 1824.

Remember - this is music written by a man who had been totally, totally, totally stone deaf for many, many years. I think its a miracle!!!

You will remember when 'Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead' was an unexpected hit record. People were not buying it because they liked the tune, but for 'other' reasons.
There are better recordings of Beethoven's glorious masterpiece than this, many buyers of Rieu's chart smash will already own one or more of them. They buy several copies at a time for reasons which are also 'other'. I would too if I could afford to.

Of course I remember that. The song reached No.1 in the UK singles chart and it wasn't played in full (only a four or five second clip) on Sunday BBC Radio 1 chart show. If I remember well, it was the first time in history the No.1 song wasn't played in full...

...which merely served to draw attention to the silliness of the censorship. There is no better way to publicise a record than to ban it. Ask Frankie Goes To Hollywood.

7. Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom

6. Celje, Slovenia
Celje, the third-largest city in Slovenia, had a murder rate of 2.6 per 100,000 in 2017, however, it carried a population of only about 38,000 that year within city limits.

5. Debrecen, Hungary

Lithuania also has the highest Suicide rate in the world .

Very high suicide rate for men but not so high for women. This is not the place to go in to all the reasons for the difference. At least remember this, women tend to ask for help when they are in trouble, men wait until it's too late.

Swiss president celebrates 60th with anyone born on same day

Swiss President Simonetta Sommaruga is turning 60 on May 14 and is planning a party with a difference by inviting along all Swiss citizens who share her birthday.

Those who fit the criteria have to fill in a form and provide proof a copy of their identity card or passport.

There were 94,372 births in Switzerland in 1960 — the year Sommaruga was born — meaning that the average maximum number of invitees would be around 258.

The gathering is to be held in Bern.
