Northern Hemisphere just had its hottest summer on record

It’s been a remarkably steamy, record-setting last three months for Mother Earth.



Not only was August 2020 the second-warmest August on record, but the Northern Hemisphere had its warmest summer, and the globe as a whole had its third-hottest three-month season, too.

Sir David Attenborough Reaches 1 Million Instagr4m Followers



Sir David Attenborough has broken the record for the fastest time to reach one million followers on 1nstagram.

The 94-year-old naturalist debuted on Instagram on Thursday (24 September) and it only took him four hours and 44 minutes to reach a million followers.

Dave quite rightly, some might say, took the record from Friends' Jennifer Aniston. She got the coveted one million in five hours 16 minutes when she joined Insta in October 2019.

Last Christmas by Wham! finally reaches number one

Wham!'s Last Christmas has topped the UK singles chart for the first time, 36 years after it was first released.

Last Christmas does now hold a new chart record - for the longest time taken for a single to reach number one.

The previous record-holder was Tony Christie's (Is This The Way To) Amarillo? which had a 34-year gap between its original release and topping the chart for Comic Relief in 2005.

First released in December 1984, George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley's song was held off the top spot by Band Aid's Do They Know It's Christmas?

The festive classic was streamed 9.2 million times over the last week, knocking LadBaby's Don't Stop Me Eating off the top spot.

Andrew Ridgeley said he was "somewhat amazed" the record had now reached number one.
