Nope. It's real.

As a US citizen I feel that taking him out was good - but I take no pleasure in event. The US invaded Afghanistan nearly ten years ago specifically to target OBL and Al Qaeda. That's a long time and a huge body count to accomplish something that should have taken a few weeks.

OBL is gone, but Al Qaeda and terrorism goes on. There's not really much to celebrate, for me.

Bit early to start the conspiracy theories surely? It's one thing to be sceptical, another to be sure without even the slightest evidence.

Without due process? This is not some random poor guy dragnetted in the battlefield and illegally held in gitmo, this is a man who claimed responsibility for the murder of thousands and declared war on the US.

I agree that America is guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity, but in this case I'm not seeing a problem.

• Mission was conducted by US Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC)
• Helicopter that brought them in stalled on arrival and could not be restarted. The team continued their mission with no way to escape.
• There was a firefight; OBL was shot in the head.
• Another heliocopter was rushed to the scene. The forces blew up the crippled 'copter and took off with OBL's body.
• 12 hours later OBL was buried at sea. (There will be no grave to serve as a rallying point for followers.)

Yeah but all of this accroding to? The only footage I saw on TV was a house burning.

No pictures of Osama. No footage of any kind that will prove what happened.

I'm hoping more undeniable evidences will surface soon.

Anyone seeking to buy a house or even work in that area needs security clearance. That suggests someone at a high level within the Pakistan security services must have played a part in allowing Osama to live there unremarked. The US chose not to involve Pakistan or seek its cooperation. The Pakistan authorities were caught by complete surprise and were scrabbling around in an effort to give a proper media response to what had happened.

• "Senior administration officials" means more than one person above the press secretary - usually a senior white house political adviser and /or wh chief of staff. Mark notes that he received these details via e-mail from the wh that laid out a timeline of the operation as experienced by the President's staff.
• "Senior U.S. official" is, in this case, either a State Department or intelligence source. (Someone in the Defense Department would be referred to as "a senior Pentagon official".)
