Am I the only one who can't download anything from Depositfiles? Each time I get the message ''Attention! Connection limit has been exhausted for your IP address! Please try in ** minute(s)/hour(s)'' even though I haven't downloaded anything from them.

Today I'm trying to download a file and again got the same message which told me to try in 23 minutes. After waiting 23 minutes I tried again, this time it's telling me to wait 2:08 hours - WTF!!!

Unfortunately, nearly all the files I want seem to be on Depositfiles, which means I can hardly download anything now. Anyone know of a solution to this?

I wish people would use more reliable hosts like Rapidshare, Mediafire, Crocko, Sendspace, Files.Mail.ru. or at least use those as mirror hosts.

Someone will come along who can explain this much better, but it's to do with your ISP sharing an IP address. If you look at the Depositfiles page where it tells you you have to wait a length of time, there's a button you can press saying something like "why is this happening" which explains it. It's annoying, I know - almost useless.

14. Service issues a message "connection limit has been exhausted for your IP address, please try again in 5 (25, 55, etc.) minutes". What should I do to download a file?
DepositFiles.com provides equally high qualified services to users from all the regions of the globe, regardless of size downloads, download time, user's browser and other parameters. With this purpose the system of dynamic load distribution was implemented. It operates on the following principle: "All users should have an opportunity to download large files and with good speed for FREE".
As download priority speed is given for GOLD-users, other users can download quickly only one by one file (first one, then another one). The time spent in the line (the phrase "try again in 10 minutes") depends on various factors (file's popularity, DepositFiles server load from your network segment, time of day, etc.), the main thing among which is the file size. The larger the file downloaded from your IP address is before, the more waiting time is. Therefore, in order to reduce waiting time we recommend to download small files at the beginning. Also, as the system recognizes users by their IP address, you can change your address (see question 15) and try to download the file again.
15. Your system informs that you have been downloading files or that you have already downloaded too much. But you have not downloaded anything! What is wrong?
Our system uses your IP-address to count the amount of downloads. If you receive such notice and you really haven't downloaded anything, then you probably use the proxy-server that is simultaneously used by other people. You need to turn off such proxy-server(s) in this case. If your provider doesn't allow it, the only possible solution for you is GOLD-account. GOLD-account uses cookies (not IP addresses) for your downloads counting.
16. Why can't I enter DepositFiles through the corporate proxy-server?
The system limits the number of simultaneous logins from the same IP address to prevent the server's overloading. That is why you may see a notice informing you that something is already being downloaded from your IP address, though you are not downloading anything. Since GOLD-users have more download priority, and if you are not a GOLD-member, try to log in at another time of day.

To avoid the waiting time as a free user you can also disconnect from internet after the download and then connect again. So your IP changed and you can download files faster, maybe that helps a bit ;)

But on disconnection you should wait 5 minutes before reconnecting.

Or if you use jdownloader (free program) there is a button on there to get a new IP address.

To be able to download from Oron without having to wait for hours, I always disconnect and clear everything with CCleaner. This doesn't work for Depositfiles, however.

I'll give jdownloader a try -- maybe that will work.

Thanks for suggesting jdownloader - I'm now able to download from depositfiles with it.

I'm having a similar issue... 250MB files from DepositFiles taking over 2hours!!!! Larger files saying 6hours!!!

The main issue is that even if I leave it downloading overnight, it always fails!!!

I'm gonna try jdownloader.

Well I registered as Gold Premium Member today and now I have always full and really good speed

I thought about that DF maybe changed the speed for free users and that you only get full speed as a premium!?!?

Slimjim wrote that he doesn't have problems and I don't know whether he is a premium user there.

I just can advise to buy a premium account and then you also can use the download manager from DF which is for free then.

The price is not really high compared to the hard work of all the uploaders here and I think it's worthing it totally.

as a free user I used DF for the last several years as well as for up- and downloads; the download speed I've experienced over the last week is a desaster: 0,00kb/s to 15kb/s and broken dl's all over; just ridiculous !

Maybe they are in trouble and had to close some servers like our beloved Megaupload friend Kim Schmitz/Kim dotcom

After I saw Kim's picture I immediately fall in love with him; don't you agree - he is just adorable !

ITA, it might take a long time, but it always resumes where it left off and keeps on going, but they are also deleting some files of Premium Cable shows, so the future is unwritten, as always.
