NASA concept art shows the path of Comet Kohoutek as it traveled through space, showing the position of the comet on Christmas Eve in 1973, not long after it was discovered.

Comet Kohoutek made its closest approach to Earth on December 28, 1973.

There is a French/German/British movie from 2005 MERRY CHRISTMAS which is telling the story of this event. A very moving film and very recommended.

British poet George, Lord Byron born Jan 22,1788

Ours too the glance none saw beside;
The smile none else might understand;
The whisper'd thought of hearts allied,
The pressure of the thrilling hand;
The kiss so guiltless and refin'd
That Love each warmer wish forbore;
Those eyes proclaim'd so pure a mind,
Ev'n passion blush'd to plead for more.

Here is my favourite of Lord Byron:

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society where none intrudes,
By the deep Sea, and music in its roar:
I love not Man the less, but Nature more,
From these our interviews, in which I steal
From all I may be, or have been before,
To mingle with the Universe, and feel
What I can ne’er express, yet cannot all conceal.
