Absolutely. Latest update - BBC now reporting that total has reached £15 million. At this rate I can see it being over £20 million by the weekend

Heroes are not born only in wars! :thumbs up:

Amazing! Captain Tom is an example that we can all do something to help out in these troubling times, no matter what age we are. Besides being a brilliant man, he also showed society that elders still have a lot to offer society! A point often overlooked by many today!

Yes every age has its merits

Here in the UK a Capt. Tom Moore decided he wanted to help raise some money for the NHS charities. He is 99 (his 100th birthday is at the end of this month) and recovering from a hip-replacement and skin cancer. He decided to do 100 "circuits" of a 25mt loop in his garden with the help of his walking frame, doing 10 laps a day, and said it would be great if his challenge raised £1000. He completed the 100th lap today and as to the £1000 target - well he did a little better than that. Six days ago the money raised had already reached £9000 and the money keeps coming in. As of about an hour ago the total had got to over £14 million !

This is all over American media. Awesome story.

This is just WOW - what determination and a big warm heart can do!!!:heart::heart:

In Sweden we have the saying, that times of crisis brings out the best in fellow humans - Captain Tom is a spectacular example of this!!! :big hug:

But the flop side is that it also brings out the worst in some people - and I'm afraid I've seen enough of that too. In particular in political leaders behaving like narcissistic brats with too much power. :(:(:(~X:)no:

yaeh, but i think that people who use English as a second or third language should be open for corrections (?) from people who know English better. learn and live (or conversely: live and learn ;) i'm not sure). i'm open for every suggestion of better word or expression. this way i could improve my vacubulary ;)

Totally agree, but It's not what you say, but how you say it and who says it :)

"The sun will shine again, and the clouds will go away."

Captain Tom Moore racks up another incredible victory in his quest to raise money for the NHS as his rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone debuts at Number 1 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart just in time for the 99 year-old war veteran’s 100th birthday.

Captain Tom will be the first centenarian to score an Official UK Number 1 single as he’ll turn 100 on Thursday while he’s still at the top of the chart.
