ASPHALT CITY (2023)
Asphalt City follows Ollie Cross (Tye Sheridan), a young paramedic assigned to the NYC night shift with an uncompromising and seasoned partner Gene Rutkovsky (Sean Penn). The dark nights reveal a city in crisis; Rutkovsky guides Cross, as each 911 call is often dangerous and uncertain, putting their lives on the line every day to help others. Cross soon discovers firsthand the chaos and awe of a job that careens from harrowing to heartfelt, testing his relationship with Rutkovsky and the ethical ambiguity that can be the difference between life and death. Oh wow this is an extraordinary film and I think not every one will like it. It is more like a do
entary and shows two NYC paramedics during their night shifts. Here are no heroes who will help poor people as it is shown in many series. This is a blunt view into the grueling job of an paramedic in a hostile environment - really a shocking film. After 2 hours I've been like paralyzed.
This was the most shocking film for me since a very long time. I don't know if I can recommend this film - but nonetheless you should try it.
