No, I don't think you should vote for Obama again, unless you really support endless war and right wing economics. I voted for Cynthia Mckinney of the green party in 2008; I don't know who will take that ticket this time or if a great independent like Ralph Nader will run, so I'm unsure. I still really hope someone in the democratic party will have the guts to run in the primary and challenge Obama's policies, which are largely a continuation/expansion of the most egregious Bush administration abuses that ultra-partisan democrats claimed they were against, but now all they have are excuses when their own people do the same things.

There is no excuse for Obama ordering the murder of innocent civilians across the middle east or furthering economic inequality and corporate power in this country; he and his party have the choice to do otherwise, and need to be held responsible by people from all parties. His administration is right this second pressuring the Iraqi government to allow US troops to stay in Iraq past the deadline for their removal; another campaign promise broken, proving he is not and never was "anti-war." All he offers now is delusional hope and chump change. What we need is a movement to change the system, not simply shuffle around people from the two parties who ultimately share most of the same political ideas and are in league with the same corporate and wealthy interests. We need to make a movement so big that we drown out the insane minority that is the "tea party" and strong enough to silence the lies of establishment democrats.

sounds like another doom and gloomer. this is , a whole bunch of stuff that is very much an opinion but not fact. So yeah, thanks for the opinion, but I am voting Obama totally - he's way safer than all those others who seem to be out in some wasteland of fantasy about how they can fix the country. if a Prez inherits a lousy situation, it's just a big whining party to blame him for it. try blaming Bush and others for creating the mess that Obama had to suck up and deal with.

A tad premature no?

Not only is the election over a year away, we don't even know who the candidates will be yet, and we haven't seen their platforms. Only people who are purely partisan can possibly have made up their mind on whether or not Obama will be the best candidate yet.

It's this kind of perpetual campaigning BS that is ruining American politics, politicians have no time to actually govern or legislate between campaigns any more. To get shit done you need to compromise and work across the isle, all things campaign season seriously curtail.

Now is the time to remind your public representatives that they need to do the actual job they were elected to do, and stop wasting all their time campaigning.

Not saying that you should of shouldn't vote for Obama but consider the choices. Would you vote for any of the candidates that are currently in the field. This is Gay Heaven. Would any of those choices do more for the gay community? In addition, WHY would you waste a vote on someone who has no chances of winning anyway?

Just my two cents.

And on repeal of DADT, and now DOMA, isn't Obama coming along pretty nicely?

I do agree that it is a little too early to be talking about re-election or the election for that fact, however, this talk has been going on ever since Obama stepped into office during his first month. Therefore, I honestly believe I will vote for Obama again because first of all, with all the mess that Bush had left after being in office for eight years, there is no way that anyone could ever believe that he could resurrect this in his time in office despite the fact that everything he tried to do was denied or rejected by the Republican congress. This is the only annoyance that I do have with Obama because it seems that he is always extending the "olive branch" to meet the Republicans half way and yet, they ridicule him with every chance they get. I really think he needs to stop this and know that he is the PRESIDENT and his word is solid no matter what others think. Furthermore, its not like he has not tried to do or make headway. With that being said ...he has also done a lot of things that he does not get the credit for that have been good and yet, he still gets reamed for that as well. Yes, I will give him another chance for 2012.

What really concerns me are the millions of homeless LGBT youth being exploited on the streets. I suppose now they can join the military and be sent to kill village children in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, Libya... but many of them don't want to and couldn't fit in with that culture anyway. It is this very funneling of all our economic resources to the pentagon that leaves socially marginalized people like those homeless queer kids and so many in the trans community to rot while Obama chooses of his own accord to vastly expand and increase the war on terror beyond what GWB ever did. They won't be saved if someday DOMA is repealed (it hasn't been yet, so I don't think it's time to celebrate; unless you also credit Obama with closing Guantanamo bay and ending the war in Iraq, lol), and they are unaffected by DADT. So personally, I prefer a broader view of gay politics that includes the downtrodden people unlikely to win or be invited to a democratic party fundraiser where politicians raise their glasses to wall street again and again while we go without housing, healthcare, affordable college education, living wage jobs... It matters that much to me, and there are platforms that promise a higher degree of gay rights than Obama and other mainstream democrats are willing to do.

so do something about it instead of blaming one elected official who inherited the existing situation. are u volunteering with a gay help center, or helping to raise money for one, or doing anything other than blaming? sounds like you are campaigning yourself for some kind of status. homeless kids of any orientation is a terrible thing, but that has totally zero to do with Obama and has been happening for many years before u and I were born. looks like Obama is your whipping boy for all the sins of the world. ever think that the repubs want all those gay kids in the street to prove their bullshit about how being gay is just an evil choice? try a reality check instead of fantasy that you get from some anti-Obama news channel.

It is some years ago that my eldest son could vote for the first time. He came to me and asked "dad which party shall I vote for"? I answered him that voting is a private matter. Voting is one of the basic elements of our democracy. Everyone should make up his own mind. Get interested. Read what the different parties want to achieve. Listen to your heart and make your choice. Of course I did know that parties do not keep their promises. But that is a road everyone has to take. After the elections he told me that he voted for the socialist party. It was certainly not my choice at that time, but I complimented him for making his own choice.
So my answer is: do your duty and make your own choice.

I pretty much agree, but I'll add one more thing - DON'T judge parties by their promises and aspirations, instead, judge them by their past ACTIONS (or lack there of).

At the last US mid-terms the Republicans and the Tea Party were VERY clear on what their aspirations were, and what they were going to make their first priority if elected - 'jobs, jobs, jobs'. They've had almost a year in control of the House, where's their urgent jobs legislation? They told people what they wanted to hear, but have yet to do what they wanted done.

So - if you just vote based on promises you'll have some SERIOUS buyer's remorse, look at what they've DONE too before you cast your vote!

Unless you want the USA to be dragged kicking and screaming back to the 14th century by the Tea Party types, there really is no choice but Obama. Has he been a major disappointment? Unquestionably. Is he a better choice than any Republican with a chance to win the nomination? Again, unquestionably.
