This is probably true. The operative word is "trust". They could probably not do too much damage on the chest, as long as they were careful around the nipples. Certainly if you have a hairy back, it would be easier for someone else to shave it for you than to do it yourself.

A word of warning though. DON'T let anyone else shave your nuts for you. I did once (it was his idea, not mine). Several litres of blood later, I was sadder but wiser.

The problem with the testicles is that they need to be gripped and squeezed to stretch out the skin and make it smooth, otherwise the razor will catch on wrinkles in the skin. However, only you know how hard to squeeze. If someone else does it for you, either they will squeeze too hard and hurt you, or, as happened to me, not squeeze enough, leaving a wrinkled skin surface full of places where the razor can nick. If you must shave your balls, do it yourself.

To me, personally, it's a giant mega massive turnoff.

The whole thing just does not compute for me at any level. I'm attracted to men, and men have hair like women have boobs! Body hair is nature's way of telling you that a person is biologically mature and, at a purely animal level, ready for sex. Genetically, it makes perfect sense for pubic hair to turn people on sexually, since that's the whole point of pubic hair - to signal sexual maturity. In men, body hair is like breasts in women, developing with sexual maturity. No body hair = child, body hair, how ever little = man.

So - bearing in mind the logical biological drivers that should make people attracted to pubic hair especially, and also body hair in men, why has it become the fashion to shave it off, often all of it? I guess I get the idea of trimming to some extent, it's not all gone, so you still look like you're sexually mature, but you look more neat and manicured. Doesn't work for me, but I can see the logic. But shaving, I just don't get it.

Like I say - it does not compute.

Makes me very sad to see all that porn with all those guys, and almost none have body hair, and very few even have pubic hair left intact - hopefully fashions will shift soon, and the more natural look of the past will come back into vogue, at least for a while.

Also - I don't consider myself old - most people of my generation do shave or trim, I don't, and I know I'm very much the exception

Well if I follow that logic, then men shouldn't shave their beards nor their mustaches and people in general shouldn't shave their heads, especially their heads, since not having hair on the head is not a sign of adulthood, but one of elderhood. You know, if it's good for you to some extent, then this extent might very well be larger for somebody else. Personally, I've never thought that a guy with a ten inch penis who shaves his pubes actually looks like a child at all. I prefer guys with hair, that's it. I don't try to find any logical approach to what I like to see as if there was some kind of higher grounds for preferences. There's no objectivity to preferences.

I don't think you can dis-count the biological drivers, but as you suggest, there does seem to be more at work than just biology. Clearly society has an effect, I guess we're just so used to shaved faces and cut hair that we don't think about that any more.

Though it's interesting you mention it, because I definitely do prefer guys with longer hair - another old fashion I'm hoping will come back

Nature and nurture - the age old argument. The only logical answer is that we're the product of both.

Each of us knows a circle of friends, probably our own age, and we probably have a good idea of what's normal within that circle, but none of us have a big enough circle of friends to cover all age groups and all ethnicities around the world! There's a HECK of a lot of gay people in the world. don't be too quick to generalise.

Damned good response! So many people are totally gullible when viewing or reading stuff on the internet - it's as though they toss away their intellect and rational thinking once they open their internet browser. Most males on planet earth are not smooth-skinned naturally. The amount and placement of body hair (other than pits and crotch) will vary between cultures, races and sub-groups within those broad categories. From personal observation over the years, most of the North American males who shave their body hair are between age 16 and 25 - and tend to exhibit overly egotistical responses to their personal appearance.

The number of youthful males (we'll presume they are all over 18) who appear in porn vids represent a very tiny fractional percentage of males in their age grouping. Many of those bois who model, spend hours every week shaving their bodies hairless, in order to satisfy the appearance requirements of their work.....much the same as high school and university swim teams buddy up to shave each other in the locker room (a hot scene fer sure!) in the belief that no hair on their bods equals faster time when competing in the water.

When I was young, hairy was in. (We even wrote a Broadway musical about it!) Then it was the lean young man. Then short cropped hair, hairy chest, and mustache. (The "clone" look.) Then it changed to swimmer's build and mid-length feathery hair. That led to body-builders and shaved chests - then shaving everything.

It's all fashion; it's different all around the world; it will all change. Tattoos, piercing - wait ten years and they will seem old-fashioned. (Kind of sucks for people that permanently altered their body for a style that's going to go the way of headbands and leg warmers.)

Anyway - whatever you are in to, there are other guys looking for the same thing.

I prefer guys with hair. But if a guy is naturally smooth it doesn't bother me. It does bother me when I see guys who are naturally hairy but have razor bumps all over their bodies from shaving. Looks ugly and its a turn off.

I started shaving my body when I was 16. Now in 20's I'm too lazy and just prefer being hairy. I do find men with body hair sexy but also think smooth bodied men are just as attractive. Vanity, I assume.

I've recently been getting into sugaring--you just boil lemon juice, sugar, and water together into a paste and apply it (cooled) to your body with hands to remove hair. It is much better for the skin and longer-lasting than waxing, and can remove hair as small as 1/16 of an inch, and unlike shaving, it also has the great effect of ensuring that less and less hair grows back each time.
