On the same small neo-retro market, there was also the Clenet from the French designer Alain Clénet.
Arrived in 1980, sooner than Robert Cumberford, he was very successful at the beginning. Three years later he had to sell his company. At this time there was too many competitors in USA and the interest for this kind of cars was gone.

I found another DS convertible that is like the Heuliez prototype. (see #348)

From the German bodyworker Reutter. It seem that some units were made. Notice the retractable centre pillar.
With a reinforced body Reutter would have got the authorization from Citroën around 1960-62.

ID/DS from Belgium

Garage and showroom Yser square at Brussels. We recognize the lavish style of André Citroën!

1956 above, 1968 below

Brussels motorshow every year in January : 1969 above, 1970 below.

Forest manufactory near Brussels where were made ID/DS until 1969. It was also a production center for 2 CV, Dyane, Ami.

DS 21 Pallas 1966

ID 19 made at Forest model 69, one of the last producted in Belgium. Nice restoration.

Back direction indicators, interior door handles, wheel trims, painted roof, for the exportation, ID 19 finition was close from the DS one. Yet, assisted steering and directional headlights are in option.

Winter 1988-89 : A XM from the pre-serie is tested by the pilot Jean-Pierre Jabouille

The first kilometers take place in USA for a long trip far from the French journalists.

To celebrate the ID 19 victory in Monte-Carlo Rallye 1959, Citroën got a stand at the "24 Heures du Mans" in June.
For the constructor, it was easy to convert a chevron as number one!

The stand model

Another stand in 1960. This time the DS are beside a big sculpture modern art named the "Corolle".

On this board : Paul Coltelloni, europe champion of the rallyes 1959 on ID 19

DS, CX, XM, the "Two Liter" by Citroën (or nearly...)

A good old DS engine, is it the best?

Developed by Renault in the framework of PRV program (Peugeot-Renault-Volvo), this modern 2 Liter with one OHC appear on the new version Renault 20 TS model 78 (drawing Renault).

The heart transplant is made in July 79 on the new CX Reflex and Athena while appear the Peugeot 505 powered also by this motor. Both models keep also some old motors, 505 for the downscale and CX for up'market.

Left : The old Citroën 2.2 L from the DS 21
Right : The PRV 2.2 L of the CX 22 TRS

For Citroën XM and Peugeot 605 (1989), a new motor 2 Liter is inaugurated.
Left : The original version simple OHC 8 valves
Right : The version double OHC 16 valves appeared in 1994.
This time these motors are developed by PSA Peugeot-Citroën group alone, the agreements with Renault are broken.

2 liter - 8 valves

2 liter - 16 valves

Two Citroën VIP : Andre Lefebvre (left) and Flaminio Bertoni (right)
Both are hired by Andre Citroën in 1932-33, both are dead in 1964 (69 for Lefebvre, 61 for Bertoni).

First and important work for Bertoni : fastening the chevrons behind the Rosalie radiator grill early 1933, only some months after its launch at Paris motorshow.
Then, early 1934, he made a lifting of this model : tilted radiator grill, new headlights and fenders.

32 design years at Citroën : from the Rosalie to ... the SM!

All the Traction versions

2 CV old and new bonnet

DS saloon and cabriolet

Dashboard and profil drawings are fixed only some weeks before the motorshow 1955.

Ami 6 saloon and break : a sculpture on wheels, you like it or not!

The cabin of the new truck range named "Belphegor" by the factory (1965)

The new front face of the DS (1967)

Early sixties, Bertoni already thinks to a super DS named S model. Some years later it will be the SM.
