Elvis (2022)

In the same way that Rami Malek became Freddie and Taron Egerton became Rocketman, Austin Butler transformed
into Elvis. At times, I couldn't tell if I was watching real footage or acting. No doubt, Austin Butler amazed me! Give him an Oscar!

Movie lasts almost 3 hours but feels like only a few minutes have gone by. Loved every moment.

After watching the movie I can say that I'm now both an Elvis and Austin fan!
The same feelings I've had, when we watched this film some weeks ago.👍

Qu: So what would happen if Tatantino were to get together with Guy Richie to make a "caper movie"???....

Ans: Well they would probably end up with this enjoyable; silly; absurb; load of nonsense blast of a pure popcorn movie - the perfect way to kill 2hrs on a wet and windy Sunday afternoon....

All Quiet On The Western Front - but this time the original from 1930. And honestly I found it way better than the new German one.
It is more like the book. It shows you the horrible pictures from the trench warfare (back and forth) and as well the same time back in Germany. So you will have more insight in the feelings of this young soldier Paul Bäumer. And for a film from 1930 it is a highly modern film.

Peter von Kant ----- at the beginning I've thought a dull movie. But a dull movie from Francois Ozon? Impossible! So I watched and I wasn't disappointed! In a way a monument for Rainer-Werner Fassbinder. Take the time and watch it - you'll find it here in the cinema section.

I was going to say just the same thing. The recent AQotWF is in its own way a good film but it has almost nothing to do with the book, it should have been called 'War Is Hell, Who Knew?'
The superb black and white 1930 movie is the real deal, it is as relevant today as it was the day it was made.

Sarajevo Safari (2022)

Slovenian director Miran Zupanic made a film about how rich Westerners – and Russians – killed people (mostly children) in besieged Sarajevo from Serbian positions...

“The film gives the viewer an intimation of the absolute evil underlying the masks of humanity and offers insight into the fates of people whose lives were irrevocably changed by the bullets of snipers. Along with their suffering, it also helps the viewer understand their wisdom and the power of their will to live.”

Ballon (2018)

In the summer of 1979, in Thüringen, in East Germany, two families put together a crazy plan. They are desperate to leave the DDR for the 'West' and plan to flee in a homemade hot air balloon.

Incredibly strong movie. I was touched. Nothing to dislike about a well-made thriller that actually thrills. Michael Herbig, one of the most successful German filmmakers, finds the right tonality to tell this true story.

Bros.
I was looking forward to a film about the late eighties boyband. Sadly this movie is nothing to do with those two pretty boy singers. It was only a completely predictable romance by numbers. "Aaron" was hot as fuck but that is not enough to make up for a lame story.
