Moonage Daydream
A film about David Bowie will always be frustrating, no matter how good it was it could never be as good as the thin white duke deserves.
The source material here is fantastic, clips from interviews I never knew existed. The high quality film excert from the 1978 Earls Court concert is worth price of admission alone. But as a movie it is a mess, a mess I am happy to put up with.
It is a reminder that there will never be anyone remotely like David ever again. 😭

Bros.
I was looking forward to a film about the late eighties boyband. Sadly this movie is nothing to do with those two pretty boy singers. It was only a completely predictable romance by numbers. "Aaron" was hot as fuck but that is not enough to make up for a lame story.
It's a bit disappointing that one of the main leads was just super whiny.

I just watched My Policeman - a VERY worthwhile viewing experience! While the movie is sad and heartbreaking, it is quite poignant and offers a realistic depiction of gay/lesbian life in the 50's. In some ways we have come sooo far, but there is still work to be done for equal rights. Also on the plus side, you get to see Harry Styles' bare bum!! ;)

There was lots of pre-release hype about this, and lots of great reviews ................I don't think I've been so bored by a movie that I was expecting to really enjoyπŸ₯±. I didn't watch it all the way to the end? Did I miss anything? I suppose I should at least go back and watch the end credits for the spoiler/teasers that Marvel usually drop in between the names of the 2nd unit artistic director and the stunt team etc :giggle:

I knew very little about this before watching, just that scientists were trying to warn everyone that a comet was on collisiion course with the Earth. I was expecting a farly typical action/sci-fi movie.... turns out it's went down the satirical comedy route - enjoyable.

Captain Fantastic...

(No YTube trailer due to age of actors) I don't want to give too much plot away but a family, led by dad Viggo Mortensen. live off grid in the forest of the pactfic northwest but, due to circumstances have to go back and interact with civilisation.

A really good film - from the jaw dropping opening scene through to the beautiful ending! Viggo Mortensen rightly got some great reviews for his performance but the always watchable George McKay was on fine form too and the youngsters playing the rest of the family were all very very good. Some nice cinematography and a really good script and score. The reviews says "Charmingly eccentric, sweet & funny" others say "heartwarming. triumphant and spirited "and "A funny film that will have you in tears"...... I'll go along with all of those - recommended!

The only thing I can say here: I can confirm every word which has been written here. If you haven't watched this film by now - do it at once!

Mmmm, a film satirising the ultra-rich; oligarchs and arms dealers. Well the targets are maybe a bit too easy IMHO. Some critics absolutely loved it, I thought it had it's moments - any time when Harris Dickinson is on screen for instance and the Captains Dinner scene (Woody Harrelson is great as the Captain) a long movie at 2hrs 28mins, and it beagn to feel like it at times.

I finally watched Bros this past weekend - agree with most of the comments already posted here. I was never a fan of Billy Eichner and his character here was just whiney & neurotic. On a more positive note, who knew that Luke Macfarlane was so HOT. I remember him from that show Brothers & Sisters and the many movies he has done for Hallmark. The guy has definitely been hitting the gym!!

I knew very little about this before watching, just that it was "cops look for serial killer" and it starred Denzil Washington; Rami Malek and Jared Leto. A bit formulaic as many serial killer movies are and at 2hrs 7mins a bit of cutting down would have helped as it gets slow in places - but it has an atmospheric score from Thomas Newman and Denzil and Rami are both excellent and a so I stuck with it.
