I'm a big fan of Chris Morris and his tv work - The Day Today; Jam; Brass Eye and really liked his 2010 movie 4 Lions and so I wondered why I had not heard about this 2018 satirical comedy before. After about 30 mins I realised why. It's not very good.

So I admit I thought " A movie about choosing a new Pope...nooo" But it stars Ralph Fiennes; Stanley Tucci and John Lithgow so decided to give it a go. Their performances are superb. It's gripping & beautifully filmed and any movie that uses Allegri's Misere as part of the soundtrack is OK with me (even if it's only a short extract) as to the twist/ending....

BUNNY AND THE BULL (2009)

Here in the UK the All4 streaming service from Channel4 recently uploaded 4 movies that caught my eye. This oddball surreal comedy from the guys behind The Mighty Boosh is very quirky with an animation background and a very odd storyline. Wierd and funny but I found the animation a little wearing towards the end.

An awkward but imaginative pupil helps the handsome but spectacularly dim school-hero pursue the fiery daughter of a visiting French teacher. Imdb

This is the third of the 4 movies recently uploaded to the All4 streaming service in the UK that I thought I'd take a look at. Essentially it's a re-working/modernising of the Cyrano De Bergerac story. It was ok

I had thought my review would be along the lines of "Dumb; fun but forgettable" but it's rubbish; unwatchable & utter crap. ( based on the first 15mins - which was as much of this garbage as I could take)

The stories of a group of Londoners during the German bombing campaign of the British capital during World War II. Imdb

This movie has been highly praised by audieces and critics but even though it's directed by Steve McQueen and Saorise Ronan stars with appearences from Harris Dickenson & Kathy Burke it didn't grab me that much. It was ok but at 2hrs it would have benefitted from some cuts.

NIGHTMARE ALLEY (2021)

A grifter working his way up from low-ranking carnival worker to lauded psychic medium matches wits with a psychologist bent on exposing him. Imdb

This is yet another movie that has recently popped up on the All4 streaming service here in the UK. It is written & directed by Guillermo Del Toro and stars Bradley Cooper; Ron Pearlman; Cate Blanchett; Toni Collette and WilliamDefoe...... but it failed to interest me and I just found it a bit dull. Reading a few reviews afterwards it sounds like the last hour is jaw dropping - but I didn't get that far. This has a 2hr 30min runtime, I switched off at about 1hr.

Last night I decided to rewatch We're The Millers and I never get tired of it. I think it's the perfect amount of funny and stupid. Plus, I'm not sure why but I really enjoy Jennifer Aniston's stripping scene. LMAO

When I first heard about this movie I wasn't that keen. Then I found out it's is an A24 movie, written and directed by the writers of A Quiet Place and stars Hugh Grant and decided to give it a go. It starts off as a very very intense psychological thriller with Hugh Grant giving a tremendous creepy performance and 10mins in I was hooked and it drew me in. The lighting and cinematography are both excellent and keep the tension up. Sadly after the first hour the taught plot began to unravel and took a turn that lost it and I gave up before the end. I can see why this has got huge critical acclaim but it didn't do it for me,

This again was a really, really good action thriller. Not everything was logical but ey it is an action flick. I would recommend this film to you.

Well I've heard much about this film and all said the same like you. So this film vanished from my watch-list!

It's listed as being on Apple TV, Fandango at home and Amazon Prime, but none of them is showing it for free. $19.99.

BRIAN AND CHARLES (2022)

After a particularly harsh winter Brian goes into a deep depression; completely isolated and with no one to talk to, Brian does what any sane person would do when faced with such a melancholic situation. He builds a robot. Imdb

This was the last of the 4 recent uploads to the All4 streamer here in the UK that I had added to my list. A very quirky; heartwarming; absurd and funny film. Filmed in a mock-doc-umentary style it shouldn't really work.... but it kind of does.

Great understated perfomances from the main players. A glum depressing story - engrossing but oh soooo slooowwwww
