Nice choices Tom . Could listen to any of those. I actually have a 78rpm record of Mario Lanza. (wax discs that were the forerunner of vinyl 45s & LPs, hence the old DJ cliche, "stacks of wax" ! )

Not necessarily singers, but they were and are a tight ass band:
(Of all the '50s rock legends, he's my favorite):
(right now those two hold my interest lol)
TheOneAndOnly, I had the privilege of seeing Patti LaBelle live once. I'm surprised I haven't shared this story before...
About five years ago, I had a friend who was a huge fan of "American Idol" runner-up, Bo Bice. He was taping a Christmas special for the Oxygen channel and Patti LaBelle was a special guest. Bo was pretty awesome in his Southern rocker way, but when Ms. LaBelle hit the stage and performed a rendition of "O Holy Night", I was completely floored. To actually be able to see her embody a song and make it her own is truly an experience... I remember the song ending and finding myself in tears... I don't even have a word for how amazing she is.
I've seen her in concert several times..and I also saw her in the play "Your Arms Too Short To Box with God" in which she took the whole place into a frenzy...Great performer who is sooo underrated in the industry as far as I'm concerned...:thumbs up:
