Why mayo of course nothing better. I enjoy some of the flavored kinds. You have got to try it sometime.:thumbs up:

Vinegar !!!! Even if I occasionally use ketchup I still put vinegar on them :p

You'll find very few in the UK who don't put vinegar on chips (fries to you lot :p )

Too true, as a Brit myself vineger and salt (in that order) but if I'm having fries in the US then Ketchup

I'm an Aussie & I also prefer a good malt vinegar.
I also put the vinegar on before the salt. I do this because if done in the reverse order, the vinegar washes off the salt.

I prefer real chips & not those skinny things called fries.

I prefer ketchup, but you can also mix just a little ketchup into your mayonnaise. :)

If it was only those choices, then Ketchup. Otherwise I'd make it either Tartar sauce or Alabama White Sauce.... now I'm hungry...

In the US many find mayonnaise repulsive, which is insanity because mayonnaise is awesome. Mayonnaise is not superior to ketchup, per-se, but it is a little more versatile, and more novel since I am from the states.

I think the problem with Mayo in the states is that it's generally very low quality - when you get chips with mayo in Belgium you'll get something distinctly yellow in colour (since it's made with eggs that's the colour is should be) and very different in taste to the gloopy white stuff you get in the States.
