GUNNER (2024)... no trailer due to it being too awful

Lee Gunner tries to save his sons, Luke and Travis, from a dangerous drug gang. IMDB

Morgan Freeman has a cameo role Luke Hemsworth stars.... doesn't stop it from being truely terrible. That's 18 mins I won't get back. Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish!

(It could have been worse I suppose, Sean Bean could have been in it)

INSTIGATORS (2024)

Follows two robbers who must go on the run with the help of one of their therapists after a theft doesn't go as planned. Imdb

It's a Damon/Affleck caper/heist movie. Sadly that means Matt Damon and the wrong Affleck brother, Casey - the crap actor one. Ron Pearlman and Alfred Molina also star. It's rubbish though. What happenned after the first 20mins? Who cares.

NATIONAL ANTHEM (2023)

Dylan, a 21 year-old construction worker in New Mexico, joins a community of queer rodeo performers in search of their own version of the American dream. While working on a ranch in the breathtaking expanse of the Southwest, they contend with the undeniable forces of nature, family, and love. Imdb

It's a slow burn of a plot but it tells the heartwarming and tender story with great performances (especially Christopher Plummer, Eve Lindley and Mason Alexander Park) excellent cinematography, an atmospheric soundtrack - with horses; LGBGT+/sexual fluidity; bulls; line dancing; rodeos & drag queens .... Delightful - recommended if you can track it down

edit: Tracking it down just got a lot easier as Stonecold has now posted the links here

THE UNION (2034)

Mike, a down-to earth construction worker, is thrust into the world of super spies and secret agents when his high school sweetheart, Roxanne, recruits him on a high-stakes U.S. intelligence mission. Imdb

A ridiculous plot, with some terrible dialogue - so it ends up dumb but lots of fun. Mark Wahlberg; Halle Berry & J.K Simmons star which kind of saves it - if it had been 3 "who the fuck are you's?" then I could well have bailed out before the end.

TWISTERS (2024)

As storm season intensifies, the paths of former storm chaser Kate Carter, lured back to the open plains after a devastating encounter years prior, and reckless social-media superstar Tyler Owens collide when terrifying phenomena never seen before are unleashed. The pair and their competing teams find themselves squarely in the paths of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma in the fight of their lives. Imdb

Just seeing the title you will be able to guess what's in the movie - CGI special effects; trucks driving in hailstones and flying debris: add some terrible dialogue, some poor acting and an awful soundtrack and that's Twisters. I mean I knew it would be pretty terrible so wasn't expecting much. It didn't reach "so bad it's good" but I did sit through to the end.
Did you see the original 1996 version, Twister, starring Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt? Back then, the audience was amazed by the special effects. It was a very fun movie.

The Mist (2007).
A freak storm unleashes a species of bloodthirsty creatures on a small town, where a small band of citizens hole up in a supermarket and fight for their lives

I finally watched this movie, based on a Stephen King novella. The tension starts almost immediately and lasts throughout.
Gorier than I expected. Wow, what an ending!

There are a couple of actors from The Walking Dead TV series, Laurie Holden, Melissa McBride.
And Greg Nicotero does creature design and makeup.

BONUS TRACK (2023)

Sixth-former George believes he is a future star musician, even when no-one else in his small town does. The arrival of the son of a famous musical duo who helps him rehearse for a talent show leads both boys to learn from each other and grow closer. Imdb

An enjoyable heartwarming, (kind of) coming-of-age movie with charming performances from the 2 leads, Joe Anders and Samual Paul Small and music by Olly Alexander.

THE HOUSE (2022)

Across different eras, a poor family, an anxious developer and a fed-up landlady become tied to the same mysterious house in this animated dark comedy. Imdb

Three seperate stories, connected by The House make up this dark, creepy collection. Beautiful stop-moton animation and a host of stars providing the voices, including Helena Bonham Carter; Paul Kaye; Mark Heap and Jarvis Cocker. Very different, spooky and surreal

HARD MILES (2023)

A prison social worker assembles a cycling team of teenage convicts and takes them on a transformative 762 mile ride. Inspired by the life of Greg Townsend and the Ridgeview Academy cycling team. Imdb

Based on an uplifting true story and starring Matthew Modine. It's one of those feel-good heartwarming movies and the Colorado scenery is fantastic. Sean Astin is in it too and at least in this one he doesn't spend 11+hours saying "Mr Frodo, Mr.Frodo, Mr.Frodo, Mr.Frodo"

SKUNK (2023) ... no trailer due to actor age

Skunk follows Liam, a neglected teen who is taken away from his abusive parents’ home, where substances and violence, both physical and sexual reigned. Trading his school for a closed youth facility, he has trouble starting over again as he gets bullied even worse there. Although Liam finds solace with a new friend and social workers at first, when he revisits old traumas during counselling, his past keeps haunting him.

This Dutch/Belgian movie from Flemish director Koen Mortier is brutal, gritty and raw (so definitely not a Friday night with a few beers and pizza movie). It portrays abuse and violence in red raw, at times very intense and unpleasant. Very strong performances, especially from the lead actor Thibaud Dooms as Liam. An atmospheric soundtrack too with definitely the most jaw dropping use of a rendition of Tim Buckey's Song To The Siren
